🌱 Meet Hashim Mganga, an inspiring young leader at Providence Farm Collective! 🌟 Hashim, who came to Buffalo from Kenya as a baby, is dedicated to helping his peers adapt to life in a new country while also remaining connected to their cultural heritage. At 13 years old, Hashim worked as a volunteer alongside his father and community leaders at the Somali Bantu Community Farm (SBCF). Hashim is 20 now. In addition to being a PFC Youth Ambassador who works with volunteers and alongside staff during tours, he also supervises Summer Vibe teens as they work at the SBCF. His journey and work are about building bridges across the community -- from inspiring and mentoring Somali Bantu teens to sharing his experiences with PFC visitors to working alongside volunteers in the Giving Garden. "It's important for us to learn from our parents and pass it on to future generations," Hashim says. Beth and Mo have been working tirelessly with Providence Farm Collective’s incubator farmers to overcome the HUGE barriers to affordable farmland access that exist for all new entry farmers across our region. In their role as New York State Regional Navigators, they focus their work on the unique needs of PFC’s New American farmers. For many, language and cultural barriers can make the journey to launching from PFC even tougher, but together, we're not giving up!
