Entry Level Firefighter class scheduled for January at the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department. The class will run from 6-9pm on Wednesday evenings starting on January 22nd thru June 4th. In case you didn’t know, our foundation is now recognized by the IRS as a “501(c)(3) Charitable Organization”. This is important so that our donor know exactly where their physical and monetary donations are going towards and that we are in full compliance with the IRS. Our mission is to raise funding and obtain used equipment for our youth program to educate high school students in firefighting, emergency medical services, and dispatching. We give them real world experience to obtain certifications that allow them to help their community and be ahead of the curve upon graduation from high school. The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit held their annual golf scramble fundraiser on September 14th. Sheriff Todd Skarban reported to us that they raised $17k this year! Did you know that one of our Fire instructors is not only the chief of a volunteer fire department, but he also works full-time for Appleton Airport Public Safety at Appleton International Airport (ATW)? This morning Kevin Lynch along with other members of the ATW Fire Department voted to join the IAFF.
