Established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, this day is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health issues, fostering understanding and advocating for accessible mental healthcare. By raising awareness about mental health, we create a platform for individuals, organizations and governments to engage in meaningful discussions and address the global burden of mental health disorders. World Mental Health Day highlights this vital aspect of human well-being, promoting open dialogue, support and the formulation of policies that prioritize mental health. Our PTCREW members are back from CREW Network Convention in Vancouver, Canada! Roger Sullivan, Susan Passmore, Kim Cameron and Connie Vinson CALP, CAM, CAPS, CPM all had a wonderful time at this CRE event of the year. Cindy Clare, COO of Bell Partners Inc ad also a PTCREW member, was also recognized at Convention as a distinguished leader. We are so proud of our members!

Our Member Spotlight for October is Dion Harris! Dion is the Director of Learning and Development at Burkely Communities, bringing more than 13 years of expertise in property management. His experience in property management and learning development is complemented by his ability to communicate effectively and drive transformation across teams. As the Chairperson of the PTAA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, Dion champions initiatives that promote fairness, inclusion and equitable access in housing. Dion holds degrees from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Full Sail University.

It's time for September's Member Spotlight! Lori Starnes brings more than 25 years of industry experience to Front Street Capital where she leads the execution of asset management services. Prior to joining the firm, Lori was the Director of Asset Services for CBRE Triad, where she oversaw a team responsible for more than 5 million square feet of office, industrial and retail assignments. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable experience as a Real Estate Manager and Leasing Agent for FRI Investors, managing a portfolio of 815,000 square feet of office and industrial space. She has also served as Assistant Asset Director and Real Estate Manager for Highwoods Properties Triad Division. Lori graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

This Sunday, September 22, we celebrate American Business Women's Day, honoring the significant contributions women have made in shaping the American economy. Established in 1982 by the American Business Women’s Association, this day recognizes trailblazing women who have shattered glass ceilings and become influential leaders. The American Business Women’s Association first sponsored American Business Women’s Day in 1982 and chose September 22 because it was the founding date of the Association. The holiday was recognized in 1983 and 1986 by a Congressional resolution and a proclamation issued by President Ronald Reagan. Since then, it has grown into a significant commemoration, serving as a platform to highlight the accomplishments of women entrepreneurs, executives, innovators and professionals across various sectors. With over 75 million working women and around 12 million women business owners in the U.S., their impact is immense. We also acknowledge women in executive roles who inspire others through exceptional leadership and strategic thinking. While we celebrate these achievements, we must recognize the ongoing challenges women face in the workplace, including biases and barriers.
