PTG prioritizes safety – and it’s shown through our ISS score of 34, which means our drivers and equipment are far less likely to be pulled over for random inspections. We are so proud of our team for committing to ongoing education and best practices to deliver industry-leading quality to our customers. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Inspection Selection System (ISS) is used at roadside inspection stations to help inspectors identify and prioritize motor carriers for safety inspections. The FMCSA quantifies carrier safety performance based on the following parameters, which, combined, make up the ISS score: ·   Unsafe driving ·   Hours-of-service ·   Vehicle maintenance ·   Hazardous materials compliance ·   Controlled substances and alcohol ·   Driver fitness ·   Crash indicators

Safety starts with investments in training. It becomes ingrained in a company's culture when it's more than checking a box to meet a basic requirement. Safety is part of our regular dialogue, and it makes all the difference!

Transforming Transportation Operations | Logistics Leader | Safety & Performance Innovator

Why Investing in Driver Training Programs is Critical for Safety and Success In the world of transportation, safety is the foundation of every successful operation. A strong driver training program is one of the most effective tools to ensure that drivers not only meet safety standards but consistently exceed them. Here’s why it’s worth investing in: 🚛 Reduced Accidents: According to the FMCSA, well-trained drivers are involved in 50% fewer accidents. Training programs provide essential knowledge on defensive driving, recognizing hazards, and understanding the limitations of their vehicle, helping drivers stay safe on the road. 📈 Improved Compliance: Regulatory compliance can make or break a transportation operation. Ongoing training ensures drivers are up to date on the latest DOT regulations, HOS rules, and safety protocols, reducing violations and the risk of costly fines. ⚙️ Lower Maintenance Costs: A well-trained driver knows how to handle equipment properly, which reduces wear and tear on vehicles. This not only cuts down on maintenance costs but also ensures trucks are in safe working condition for the long haul. 🛑 Prevention of Unsafe Behaviors: Data shows that driver training programs can lead to a 20% decrease in risky behaviors, such as speeding or distracted driving. When drivers are consistently reminded of best practices, they adopt safer driving habits, improving road safety for everyone. 💡 Boost in Efficiency: Properly trained drivers know how to optimize routes, manage fuel more efficiently, and handle cargo with care. This translates to higher operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and fewer delays. At the end of the day, driver safety isn’t just about compliance; it’s about protecting your team, your reputation, and your bottom line. Investing in a comprehensive training program doesn’t just make your drivers better—it makes your business better. #DriverSafety #Logistics #Transportation #DriverTraining #SafetyFirst #FleetManagement
