Recently, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at our community-wide event Cultura y Raíces. The day was filled with vibrant energy, as we came together to honor heritage, strengthen community connections, and celebrate unity. A special highlight was recognizing our amazing Volunteer of the Year, Alexandra Cabrales—her dedication is truly inspiring! A huge thank you to our sponsor ,Citi, for their unwavering support in making this event possible. 🙌❤️ We’re also incredibly grateful to all the organizations and vendors who helped make this celebration one to remember. It was a day filled with pride, culture, and community!

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sister Carol Baetz, RSM in Burlingame, CA, a beloved former colleague at PUENTE Learning Center. Everyone who knew Sister Carol and worked alongside her will remember her with great affection and gratitude. Sister Carol dedicated her life to service, leaving behind a powerful legacy of equity and compassion in our community. She celebrated 91 years of life and 70 years of religious profession. We honor her memory with heartfelt appreciation and affection. May she rest in peace.🕊

This past Saturday we kicked off our 5th year of College Saturdays with Keck Medicine of USC! Over 100 high school students and their families joined us to learn about the opportunities this program offers to explore a future in healthcare. ⚕ Thank you to our first-year medical student volunteers and faculty from Keck School of Medicine for engaging students in open conversations about your journey navigating medical school. A recent graduate from our partner school, Mendez High School, Georgina's story is one of determination and discovery. As the first in her family to attend college, Georgina faced challenges and limited guidance. With the support of our case managers and determination, Georgina successfully navigated the college application process and is now set to attend Occidental College this fall! 🎓 From learning about career paths to receiving one-on-one guidance with financial aid, Georgina's journey shows how providing a high-quality support system and resources can open doors to endless possibilities.
