It's First-Generation Celebration Week, and we're sharing advice from Purdue University College of Health and Human Sciences first-generation faculty, staff and students all week. Next up is Jonathan Bauchet, associate professor in the Purdue HTM - White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. "College – especially at a big university like Purdue – is a somewhat overwhelming experience for everybody. But it’s even more so for first-gen students. So, reach out left and right for advice and support! Not all connections will work out, and that’s ok, so keep making more." #PurdueHHS #PurdueUniversity #FirstGen #FirstGeneration #college

It's First-Generation Celebration Week, and we're sharing advice from Purdue University College of Health and Human Sciences first-generation faculty, staff and students all week. First up is Melissa Almanza, academic advisor in the Purdue HTM - White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. "As a first-generation college student, Purdue gave me ample opportunities to learn and grow. My best advice for students is to learn how to ask for help. Whether it’s from your professors, TAs, academic advisor, RA, or your peers, asking for help is the best way to connect with others and build your community of support. You are going to do great things on campus and beyond!" #PurdueHHS #PurdueUniversity #FirstGeneration

Your romantic partner is coming home late more often. They are on their phone constantly and acting defensive. Should you be suspicious of #cheating? For the past several years, Rosie Shrout, assistant professor in the Purdue University Department of Human Development and Family Science, has researched people’s suspicions that their romantic partner is being #unfaithful. Her latest paper, “Are you Cheating on Me? Identifying Factors Contributing to the Use of Suspicion Confirmation and Avoidance Strategies,” was published this spring. ⬇️ Read about the results of her study. #PurdueHHS #PurdueUniversity #infidelity
