Don't miss your chance to participate in the 3rd crowdfunding campaign to support the Residential Construction program at Penn State! The campaign closes this Friday, October 18, so there is little time left to make your gift. Donate by October 18 at https://lnkd.in/ew--ADXt. Funds raised benefit scholarships, student activities, competitions, and courses related to residential construction. As one student shared: "Being able to travel to the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas was a wonderful opportunity. It provided a unique chance to meet industry professionals and learn more about the industry and potential career opportunities. Furthermore, it was a great chance to work with my peers and build camaraderie. I hope that future students are able to share in this fantastic experience!" Consider asking your employer if they would match your donation. Involvement in this program offers students the opportunity to grow in their understanding of residential construction and prepare them for their careers. Thank you to everyone who has donated for investing in the next generation of residential construction industry professionals! #careersinconstructionmonth #residentialconstruction #pennstateuniversity #PWBPgh #SkilledTrades #womeninconstuction #IBS2025

PA Designers and Architects - it's go time! Our bill to allow for certification of Interior Designers and provide for CEU requirements for registered architects has passed the Senate unanimously and now needs to be brought to the House for a vote. Please contact your PA Representative today, now, and ask them to move the SB1319 out of committee and to a vote. Time is running out, we only have a few more session days to pass this bill, or it will die and we will have to start all over again next year. PA Architects and Interior Designers have worked diligently all year to get the bill to this point, don't let all this effort go to waste. We can get this done now! Over the past few weeks SB1319 has passed a committee vote and also passed the Senate with a unanimous vote! There are 2 weeks left in the legislative session. We need you to contact your State Representative and ask for them to move it out of committee and to the House floor! Please take 5 mins of your day and send an email to your Representative. This is exactly how we feel at PWB-Pittsburgh! Kari Searl DeShong said it best "We are Colleagues not competitors". When we support each other, everyone shines!
Shining the Light on Others Makes a Huge Impact. 🚀 When we uplift and celebrate each other, we create a ripple effect of confidence, opportunity, and support. Recognizing the achievements of other women not only validates their hard work but also inspires others to pursue their own goals. Together, we build a stronger, more empowered community where everyone’s light can shine brighter. Some women have reservations about working in construction because of mindsets and attitudes they may face at the workplace. Women in traditionally male jobs sometimes are expected to toughen up and put up with discrimination and harrassment. Construction firms should have zero-tolerance policies that protect women from this type of behavior. All employees, including leaders, regularly should receive adequate training that covers workplace diversity, sexism, bias and misogyny. #PWBPgh #professionalwomeninbuildingweek #nahbwomeninbuilding #WomeninTrades #empoweringwomen

As we celebrate Professional Women in Building Week, we offer strategies on how to attract more women to the home building industry. PPE, such as hard hats, respirators, goggles, boots, and gloves, is essential for working safely in the construction industry. Unfortunately, most standard PPE comes in sizes designed to fit men. Construction companies that provide properly sized PPE are in a position to attract and retain more women workers. #ProfessionalWomeninBuildingWeek #PWBPgh #ConstructionJobs #SkilledTrades #NAHB #PABuildersAssociation
