As renewable energy projects surge in New York, Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs) and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) are feeling the strain. IDAs are overwhelmed by the volume of requests for financial relief, while new regulations like the Freshwater Wetlands Law add complexity to NYSDEC permitting. Both agencies face mounting challenges as they try to keep pace with the state’s green energy goals. Learn more about the impact of these hurdles on renewable projects in our latest episode! #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #NewYorkDevelopment #DECPermits #Sustainability #SolarProjects

Last week, the 2024 New York Geothermal Energy Organization New York City Fall Conference brought together the best of the best in the Geothermal Heat Pump Industry. This was an incredible event with remarkable keynotes and educational sessions. The conference kicked-off with exclusive site tours of geothermal installations around New York City, including one of PWGC's standout designs installed at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Michael Scanlon, PE, Project Manager, was also a member of the Geothermal Drilling in an Urban Environment session panel. Mike discussed the added challenges of drilling in dense urban environments and the steps needed to ensure a successful project. Feel free to check out the recorded session on the NY-GEO website once uploaded.

In the past decade, over 25% of landowners in regions like the Hudson Valley, Finger Lakes, and Central New York have leased their land to solar companies, contributing to the state’s renewable energy goals. Want to know what this means for New York’s clean energy future? Listen now to find out more about the impact and growth solar has in rural communities! https://lnkd.in/gi8nigyB #RenewableEnergy #CommunitySolar #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #NewYorkSolar #LandLeasing #SolarEnergy Alita Giuda Couch White, LLP
