QBI has launched the Research and Engineering to Accelerate Discovery (READY) Center, led by Dr. Lee Spraggon, PhD and QBI Director Dr. Nevan Krogan. This biomedical center merges academic and industry expertise to unravel disease biology and speed up therapeutic development. Using innovative genome engineering, including CRISPR, the READY Center will build a comprehensive map of human protein interactions in infectious diseases, cancer, and neurological disorders. The center is also collaborating with the University of California, San Francisco Department of Psychiatry on a $13.7M CIRM-funded project led by QBI Investigator Dr. Tomasz Jan Nowakowski. This initiative aims to advance schizophrenia research by exploring its molecular foundations and potential therapeutic targets. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ge9zaSeN

Hosted by Lee Spraggon, PhD, QBI and the READY Center are presenting a seminar with Dr. Daniel Paull, Senior Vice President of Discovery & Platform Development at The New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute on October 15 at UCSF Mission Bay. Cell biology is at an intersection where, to generate datasets capable of being applicable to tools such as machine learning, an increase in experimental scale is required. Over the past decade, Dr. Paull and his group have worked to develop and optimize a platform, the NYSCF Global Stem Cell Array, capable of deriving, gene editing, and differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). This talk will focus on the development of this platform, its use in disease modeling and its application at the intersection of biology and AI. Learn more & register! https://lnkd.in/d9mj8JeK

QBI and Bruker are excited to present a special lunch and learn session featuring Dr. Nathanael Gray from Stanford University at the Bruker Center of Excellence in Proteomics at the University of California, San Francisco, moderated by Robyn Kaake & Alicia Richards on October 2, 2024 at 12 PM. Dr. Gray, the Krishnan-Shah Family Professor of Chemical and Systems Biology at Stanford, is a leader in cancer drug discovery. His research uses the tools of synthetic chemistry, protein biochemistry, and cancer biology to discover and validate new strategies for addressing anti-cancer targets. His work has had broad impact in the areas of kinase inhibitor and degrader design and in circumventing drug resistance. For more event details & registration, visit https://lnkd.in/g56jVbGa.
