QLI’s An Evening at the Fair supports our Life Path Services to propel people like Pato to get their lives back on track. A diving accident didn’t stop 19-year-old Pato Gilchrist. It fueled him. Pato graduated from QLI’s rehabilitation program and moved back to Chicago. He now has his sights set on the USA Wheelchair Rugby team and college life at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Get your tickets for QLI's An Evening at the Fair at the link bellow: https://lnkd.in/gG9wHTrW

If anyone understands the importance of outstanding hospitality, it's Hyatt. Recently it was spring cleaning time in our rehabilitation houses, and we were lucky enough to have an amazing team of volunteers from Hyatt help us put our best mop forward. Thank you, Hyatt, for sharing your time with us and making us a part of your Global Month of Service! #HyattWorldofCare #VolunteerwithHyatt

Communication lies at the core of virtually everything we do, and when aphasia disrupts it, life changes drastically. QLI speech-language pathologist, Zoey Devney understands this on a deep level. Addressing aphasia is a focal point in her one-on-one sessions and weekly aphasia group. Yesterday, Zoey presented to over 200 healthcare professionals across the nation via an online webinar entitled: Breaking the Silence: Empowering People with Aphasia to Connect, Engage and Thrive Here are 5 takeaways from Zoey’s engaging presentation. 1) Aphasia is a language disorder. 2) Aphasia is typically caused by an injury to the left side of the brain that results from stroke or traumatic brain injury. 3) Aphasia has two primary categories: nonfluent (expressive) and fluent (receptive). 4) Aphasia is more common than Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy, or Muscular Dystrophy. 5) Singing can help people with aphasia express their message because it taps into other areas of the brain not affected by aphasia. #BetterSpeechandHearingMonth #Aphasia See less

Miami Nice That’s what you get when this crew journeys from Nebraska to Florida to the annual IRSG conference. The conference is the signature event for the Insurance Rehabilitation Synergy Group (IRSG), and it’s a phenomenal opportunity for healthcare professionals to learn and network with like-minded experts from across the nation. Thanks to Kristin, Don, Steve and Nash for representing QLI!
