Our team has developed a new method for reducing circuit length in quantum simulations. This means that we can run simulations that were previously considered out of reach, and that errors can be minimized when running them. This impacts research in key areas from magnetism to superconductivity. Read the scientific paper: https://lnkd.in/ek3jbXXj

Our annual internal conference is an extraordinary meeting of Quantinuum’s scientists and engineers. This year we hosted our global team virtually and in-person at Newnham College, Cambridge. The conference featured insightful presentations and lively discussions covering the topics critical to progress in quantum computing – from advanced error correction, cryptography and artificial intelligence, to chemistry, computational biology and condensed-matter physics, plus many more. This year featured guest speakers from leading universities, global enterprises, and quantum startups. Collaboration like this is a crucial ingredient in driving our roadmap towards Quantinuum Apollo – our universal, fully-fault tolerant quantum computer that will deliver a commercial tipping point in 2029. We’d like to extend our gratitude to all participants for enriching the event and bringing fresh and thoughtful perspectives. From all of us at Quantinuum, thank you!

For the first time, we have computed the correlation and entanglement between molecular orbitals using our quantum computer. Quantifying orbital entanglement and correlation can help us understand - and ultimately better control - chemical reactions. In this paper, we used our H1-1 system to study the vinylene carbonate + O2 molecular system, which is relevant to lithium-ion battery solvent degradation. We’ve been working with JPMorganChase on advancing quantum optimization for finance. In a very recent paper, we used our Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) alongside our quantum error detection “Iceberg” code. The already-low error rates of our H2-1 quantum hardware are further reduced by the code for up to 20 logical qubits. Our model extrapolations predict that under moderate hardware improvements the QAOA + Iceberg combination will become competitive with the classical “Goemans-Williamson” algorithm. Congratulations to all who participated in the Quantum Talents Symposium last week! This two-day symposium not only provides a platform for emerging early-career researchers to present their research in quantum science and technology, but also facilitates knowledge sharing, inspires collaboration, and promotes career opportunities in quantum science. It was our honor to support this initiative and the work of the next generation of quantum researchers. Thank you to Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology, the International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (#IMPRSQST), the Munich Quantum Valley, and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics for organizing.
The first Quantum Talents Munich Symposium showcased cutting-edge research from emerging quantum scientists worldwide! Focused on collaboration, career growth, and diversity, the event featured insightful presentations by all participants. 🏆 Five outstanding researchers were recognized with Quantum Talents Awards by a dedicated jury. 🌟 The Entanglement Prize offered by the QuantumLeaks Foundation was awarded to Sara Murciano (Caltech). 🌟 Quantum Talents Awards offered by Quantinuum went to: Nadine Leisgang (Harvard), Nathanan Tantivasadakarn (Caltech), and Deepankur Thureja (Harvard). 🌟 A special Junior Quantum Talent prize was awarded to Elizaveta Andriyakhina (FU Berlin). Huge thanks to QuantumLeaks Foundation and Quantinuum! Congratulations to all participants of the symposium! 👏 Read all about the event ➡ https://lnkd.in/dbiKfKYZ Organized by Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST), the International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (#IMPRSQST), the Munich Quantum Valley (MQV), and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics. #QuantumTalents #QuantumSymposium #MCQST #MQV #WiQO #QuantumScience

While it sounds like a gadget from Star Trek, teleportation is real – and it is happening at Quantinuum. In a new paper published in Science Magazine, Quantinuum researchers report moving a quantum state from one place to another without physically moving it through space - and they did it fully fault-tolerantly with excellent fidelity. This demonstration marks the first time that an arbitrary quantum state has been teleported at the logical level - years ahead of expectations. HSBC has demonstrated the first application of quantum-secure technology for tokenized physical gold in partnership with Quantinuum and the commercialisation of quantum technologies in critical industries just took a major step forward. HSBC and Quantinuum recognise that quantum-safe security must address both cryptographic algorithms and key quality. To demonstrate how to prevent “store now, decrypt-later” cyber incidents for their gold tokens, they combined our Quantum Origin #QRNG with post-quantum cryptographic (#PQC) algorithms. As long-time partners with HSBC, Quantinuum is building the next generation of financial services featuring quantum-hardened defences that harness the power of our quantum computers to safeguard sensitive data. Watch this space for more developments as Quantinuum’s multi-year engagement with some of the worlds largest organisations starts to become applicable in real world settings. Learn more in this announcement: https://lnkd.in/gDwYNx93 And this excellent white paper that explains very clearly the technical approach: https://lnkd.in/gQM7Vrs2
