Full-service consultancy reinventing how properties and sponsors identify, value and monetize corporate partnerships.

About us

QUANT is a cutting-edge, full-service consultancy dedicated to reinventing how properties and sponsors identify, value and monetize corporate partnerships. For too long, sponsorship decision-making has relied on outmoded, inaccurate and ultimately insufficient measurement tools. Sponsorship needs a better paradigm, one that adapts to new technologies, assets, forms of media and the changing tastes, behaviors and attitudes of new generations of consumers. By applying modern data science to traditional sponsorship measurement through forward-thinking tools like our proprietary BRAiN learning algorithm and Sponsorship Pricing Index, our methodology provides simple solutions to the complex challenges faced by properties and sponsors in order to better prepare them for the future. We are rethinking sponsorship.

We’re teeing up for the dog days of summer with a new episode of 'False Market Value!' Resident 'FMV' golf expert and ‘Fairways to Fortune’ host Joe Canfield joins us at nine o’clock on the ninth green to analyze Subway’s return on investment for its fictional sponsorship of the titular golfer from 1996’s ‘Happy Gilmore.’ Would tour publicist Virginia try to leverage Happy’s growing popularity to attract new sponsors to the PGT in real life? How the h-e-double hockey sticks did Grandma accrue $270,000 in unpaid taxes, penalties and interest in 12 years? Should Subway sign a NIL deal with the real “Happy” Gilmore now? And where are all the “new, youthful sponsors” Doug raves about? We answer all these questions and more. We also introduce a couple of new categories that focus on audience value and answer our stupid golf questions. And a very special thank you to ADC PartnersDavid Almy, host of '1-on-1: Sports Business Conversations' and our new Title Sponsor for “Logo Stew,” a category he renamed. We appreciate your support! Thanks as always to Lauren Jannicelli and KSD Studios for creating the look and sound of 'False Market Value.' If you follow our podcast False Market Value, you’ve heard us talk about the importance of congruity. It’s not only a key ingredient to a successful sponsorship program, but relationships in general. It’s also difficult to find. So David J. Kruzer and I were caught off guard by how much 1992’s ‘Wayne’s World’—a goofy, juvenile movie at heart—and its subversive themes resonated with us as adults, musicians, entrepreneurs, “Xennials” and Midwesterners. Our goal is to approach these films like sponsorship industry time capsules, and ‘WW’ definitely fits the bill. A lot was happening in the world, in the music industry and in sponsorship in the early 1990s. But what we didn’t anticipate was that for us, ‘WW’ is a time capsule for so much more. Sometimes, something just clicks. Such is congruity. So without further ado, we officially announce the release of our double album on the value of independent media, the worst Super Bowl halftime show of all time, the problem with the recording industry, never selling out for success and what Wayne Campbell should have done to get paid to do what he loved. And get that ’64 Strat. Plus, a little False Market Valuation, an Easter egg or two for my fellow Chicagoans, and heads up, a few bleeped quotes from the film. You can listen to Vol. I here https://lnkd.in/grT7HH6v and Vol. II here https://lnkd.in/gFsXfbra or anywhere you listen to podcasts. As with any double LP, some stuff still ended up on the cutting room floor. Check out bonus content from this episode on our new YouTube channel here https://lnkd.in/gFGBpQ-f. Thanks to Lauren Jannicelli for designing our album artwork and to KSD Studios for making me sound punchy and warm. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Steve Albini, whose hand I once had the honor of shaking, for his contributions to the music industry we love so much. And also Cleveland sportscasting legend Les Levine. Both of whom have cameos. We’re not worthy. #FalseMarketValue #rethinksponsorship

One of the key tenets of our business philosophy is that we can advance our industry through collaboration in lieu of competition. No organization embodies that principle more than Heather Brown, Kenny Eliason, Alicia Mejia, Jennifer Battle and the rest of the team at StartUp Vegas.   It was such a pleasure and a privilege to workshop new startup concepts with the cohort from Techstars Startup Weekend Vegas. Their wide-ranging innovations demonstrate that necessity truly breeds invention.   I was honored to have the opportunity to mentor alongside Alex MartinJen Sloan, PhD MBAKasia Hein-Peters, MDSami LeiWendy Song DowlingRafael Henryk KartaszynskiVlad SuteuJoey Jarosz and Leith Martin. Brilliant minds all.   And thanks to StartUp Vegas and Techstars Startup Weekend for exemplifying how helping others shape their visions will help shape yours in return.   “Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received and am still receiving.” —Albert Einstein Godspeed, founders.

For us, March will always be synonymous with two things: Basketball, and the Conrad Suite at the Hilton Chicago, former site of the IEG Annual Conference. So it’s fitting that the latest episode of False Market Value takes a slow-motion look at the sponsorship program for the Two-on-Two for Brotherhood Basketball Tournament from 1992’s ‘White Men Can’t Jump,’ which was released 32 years ago tomorrow. Jonathan Kander, Head of Beyond the Bottle Strategy at Gatorade and Dan Kowitz, current Founder & CEO of JSB Partnership Consultants and former sponsorship lead for Ameritech and Mervyn’s California, break down how tournament organizers should have (in Jon’s words) “put a face to these monolithic brands” back in the early 90s, and how sponsors can—and should—activate around grassroots events like the T.T.B.B.T. in 2024 to maximize partnership ROI. Our key takeaway? Sponsorship isn’t just one, big organic globule from which one extracts what one needs; event organizers should work with brands to create authentic, meaningful engagement with their local communities. You can hear our conversation on Spotify here https://lnkd.in/gETSZdAt or anywhere you get your podcasts. Thanks as always to Lauren Jannicelli and David J. Kruzer from KSD Studios for creating the look and sound of False Market Value. If you follow our podcast, you’ve heard us say that one of our goals is to find new and interesting ways to talk about sponsorship that isn’t necessarily discussing pro sports Naming Rights agreements. Well, consider this article the exception that proves the rule. “Schoolboy humour” aside, here is our analysis of what we believe is really driving value for Toughsheet through its sponsorship of the Bolton Wanderers F.C.’s stadium. Spoiler alert: All you need is love. #rethinksponsorship

Golf Coach | Sponsorships & Partnerships | Helping business professionals USE GOLF to perform at a HIGHER LEVEL 📈

Here is your inspiring and interesting partnership of the week. Jake Knapp, a rookie on the PGA Tour, has a sponsorship deal with the Anaheim Ducks. Duck's team president and CEO, Tim Ryan, is a member of the same club as Jake, and they happened to play 9-holes together a few years ago. Jake's story is interesting as he was a nightclub bouncer just a few years ago, trying to scrape enough money together to play professional golf. Tim handed Jake his card at the end of the 9-holes and told him to reach out if he could help. When Jake earned status on the Korn Ferry Tour, Ryan offered a sponsorship. Last week, Jake won the PGA Tour's Mexico Open, the $1.5 million winner's share of the purse, and secured his PGA Tour card. The Ducks gave Jake a custom "Tour Bound" jersey and celebrated his win through the team's official social media accounts. This is an awesome example of supporting the little guy going incredibly right and mobilizing to activate on a sponsorship. The earned media the Ducks are getting is worth way more than the sponsorship. Jake will likely continue to rep the Ducks as a sponsor even as more lucrative deals are sent his way because of their support when he needed it the most. I know the MLB sponsors a few guys on the PGA Tour, but I am unaware of another professional sports franchise that spends money on sponsorships like this. Do you think it will become more and more commonplace as competition in the pro sports market heats up?

Thanks for the shout-out, Joe Canfield! It was a true pleasure having you on our podcast. There’s no easy way to repost on LinkedIn and also attach a document, so please bear with us. However, speaking of “nerding out,” have we got a treat for you. One of the challenges we sponsorship valuation analysts must one day face is the future discovery or release of information that sheds new light on a past valuation. Like you said, Joe, who would have thought that Nike and Tiger Woods would end their partnership soon after we recorded? It seemed unthinkable mere months ago. Apparently, the same is true for fictional valuations. Attached is a (redacted for language) deleted scene from a December 1995 draft of the ‘Tin Cup’ script, which we discovered when confirming the name of Doreen’s establishment was “The Golden Tassel” and not “Golden Tassel” as printed on Tin Cup’s bag. (We consider Ron Shelton and John Norville to be the final authorities on the matter.) This scene clarifies how Tin Cup’s motley band of Salome sponsors was secured, who was approached but declined, and then what Doreen paid for the bag. Were Joe and Ross’ assumptions correct? You’ll have to listen to find out. No spoilers here! Okay, maybe one: Joe, elsewhere in the script, we have confirmation that it was Costner and not Tin Cup who botched the verbal sponsor mentions in the press conference. And, regarding the importance of congruity, take the writers' words to heart: "These [bizarre sponsors] are his people, after all, and they're behind him all the way." #rethinksponsorship #falsemarketvalue https://lnkd.in/gmyZ5v5S

It’s Super Bowl week in Las Vegas. What better time to talk about golf? When Founder / CEO of Fairways Relationship Management and University of Utah Director of Affinity Partnerships Joe Canfield and I first had the idea to discuss the classic 1996 film ‘Tin Cup’ on False Market Value, our plan was to talk about congruity—or as Roy McAvoy puts it, staying in touch with his inner “Waffle House guy”—and its effect on the success of corporate partnerships. Little did we know, our discussion would dogleg into how Roy McAvoy’s rise to fame foretold the modern era of professional golf ushered in by Tiger Woods that very same year; how McAvoy’s cadre of Salome, Texas-based endorsements mirrors how local businesses support amateur golfers’ professional ambitions today; and most importantly, how selflessness is the key ingredient to successful relationships on the golf course, in corporate sponsorship, in business and in all areas of life. We also didn’t know that Nike and Tiger, prominently featured in this episode, would soon part ways. You can listen to our conversation on Spotify here https://lnkd.in/gkPE6NrJ or anywhere you get your podcasts. Thanks as always to Lauren Jannicelli and David J. Kruzer from KSD Studios for creating the look and sound of False Market Value. Follow False Market Value on Spotify and QUANT LLC for more golf counterprogramming later this week. And make sure to check out Fairways RM at https://lnkd.in/garUWSsb, where you can find more information about Joe’s one-on-one coaching sessions, online and on-course training, tips & tricks and other resources for improving how you conduct business on the golf course. #rethinksponsorship #falsemarketvalue
