We are Looking to hire! Photonics Design Engineer Location : Our office in NYC Quantum Transistors is a hardware quantum computing startup. We are a diverse group of entrepreneurs, scientists and engineers who aim to bring quantum computing from the realm of academic research, and multi-million-dollar demos into the reality of widely adopted, single-chip-based, affordable and accessible system that can operate at an elevated temperature. Quantum transistors is seeking a Senior Photonics Design Engineer working on next generation photonics integrated circuits as part of a highly skilled R&D team developing cutting-edge quantum computing. About The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for photonics integrated circuit design, layout, and characterization. The role requires deep knowledge in photonics integrated circuit modeling, optimization,and testing. The position seeks highly motivated individuals who thrive in ambiguity and enjoy working in a small dynamic team environment, with a passion for solving challenging problems that can lead to high-impact advances in technology. What You Should Have PhD. (or experienced M.S.) in Integrated Photonics, Quantum Optics, Nanofabrication, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Experience with Si photonics modeling: simulation software for passive and active devices: Lumerical’s Mode, FDTD, Device, Interconnect or equivalent. TCAD such as Silvaco, Sentaurus. Experience with optimization of photonics components towards manufacturability. Experience working with wafer foundries, including: · designing and maturing product design kits (PDKs), · working with design rule checks (DRC), · familiarity with tape-outs procedures. · Active participation in three or more R&D tapeout with a state-of-the-art photonics Fab. Experience with photonics and semiconductor layout tools: · GDSfactory, GDSTK, GDSPy, · Cadence Virtuoso, or equivalent. Experience with photonics lab: Setup building and automation for passive and active devices at low and high-speed. Si-photonics circuit/device characterization at the single device, die and wafer-level. Strong data analysis skills using Python. Willingness to travel internationally 10-15% to collaborate with our design center in Israel and our partners in Europe and Far East. It Would Be Great If You Also Had These Ph.D.+ 3 Yrs experience in Silicon Photonics, Quantum Optics, Nanofabrication. Three or more years of relevant industry experience in developing PICs. Hands-on experience with nanofabrication processing at clean rooms in academia and/or industry. Background in single-photon characterization. Excellent communication and presentation skills (writing strategy docs, writing and delivering presentations), can work with senior external partners with ease. Hands-on experience in advancing product from prototype to final production stage. Experience with photonics packaging and optical propagation tools (Zemax or equivalent).
