The skyline’s in view, base camp is set up, and we’re gearing up for Staffing World 2024. On behalf of thousands of us in the staffing industry: thank you ASA, the Government Relations team, the countless volunteers and industry stakeholders who collectively lobbied against this bill and showed us how great industry associations work. ASA advocacy has secured a major win for the staffing industry! California's ominous AB 2741 bill, aimed solely at the staffing industry, has been soundly defeated. This bill posed unprecedented challenges, threatening staffing firms and their clients with burdensome obligations and prohibitions including: * Bill Rate Disclosure: Mandating detailed disclosure of bill rates on employee wage statements. * Ban on Conversion Fees: Prohibiting staffing firms from charging placement fees for permanent work placements. * First Offer for Permanent Positions: Requiring clients to offer permanent positions to temporary workers before filling them externally. Thanks to our collective efforts, we've averted this crisis. But the fight isn't over yet.
