The work we do at the is grounded in the belief that we must listen to, incorporate and empower the voices of those closest to the problems we are trying to solve. We were proud to support the creation of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) National Youth Homelessness Partnership and youth advisory group, meaning that federal agencies and national homelessness organizations will be in direct collaboration with young people who have experienced homelessness. This united approach across sectors and communities is how we end youth homelessness.

Earlier this month, our Senior Director, Dr. Zoe Stemm-Calderon, spoke at the Grantmakers for Education Conference about the vital link between democracy and public education. Supporting young people is key to a healthy society and strong democracy. High-quality, accessible public education is the foundation for this support. It's time to reimagine our school systems and showcase the strength of America's multiracial democracy. Together, we can build a brighter future for all. #EducationEquity #YouthEmpowerment #DemocracyInAction

The face of philanthropy is changing, with Millennial and Gen Z donors leading the charge. Their focus on measurable impact, transparency, and direct engagement is reshaping how we approach giving. We're inspired by this shift towards strategic and collaborative philanthropy in partnership with young people. These emerging leaders are exploring innovative funding models and seeking deeper involvement in their chosen causes. As we tackle complex social challenges, embracing these fresh perspectives is crucial. The future of philanthropy is dynamic, and by collaborating with young people, we can amplify our collective impact and drive lasting change. https://cnb.cx/3YnaGMe

Georgia's early voting turnout is setting new records, with over 300,000 ballots cast on the first day alone. This surge in civic participation is inspiring, especially given recent efforts to restrict voting access in Georgia and many states. We're encouraged by this enthusiasm and hope to see it replicated nationwide. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower all voices in our democracy, particularly those of young people and marginalized communities. Let's continue to work towards removing barriers to voting and ensuring equitable access to the ballot box for all citizens. What are your thoughts on increasing voter turnout and engagement? "Youth should not be punished for decades of entrenched systemic failures to address urgent needs. There must be a shift to support evidence-based solutions that effectively prevent and ultimately end youth homelessness."

"No sector can meet the moment our country faces alone, but no sector can shrink from its responsibility. Philanthropy has an important role to play in promoting, supporting and realizing the goal of a community-based, multiracial democratic practice. If member- and relationship-based community organizations have the resources to build and sustain a multiracial democracy, more progress can be made on the issues at the center of our philanthropic missions." As November approaches, we're reflecting on the work required outside of election season to build a thriving, multiracial democracy. Funders, it's worth spending time with this piece from Kellie Nowlan and Jennie Riley and reflecting on the vital role democracy plays in all the issues we care about. https://lnkd.in/gzsjPStP

The Ave, near the University of Washington, was a longtime hub for young people experiencing homelessness in Seattle. That has changed in recent years. One reason is because the state has made substantial progress in addressing youth and young adult homelessness. Spend some time with this story: https://lnkd.in/eqkyZDBq
