TCU Neeley adjunct professor Tom Bates, PhD joined Jay R. Young, Founder and CEO of King Operating Corporation, on his podcast this week. Bates talked about what influenced him to go into energy, the importance of mentors, and why he believes in what the RLEI is doing to build the next generation of energy leaders. "Energy drives everything in the world," Bates told The Jay Young Show. "I teach a Geopolitics in Energy course ... and I start my lecture by saying 'You don't have a supply chain unless you have energy. So think about energy first when you think about supply chain'. And it was like a light bulb went off." Bates is just one of the adjunct professors in energy. They bring executive, finance, policy, and entrepreneurial experience from their decades in industry. #theRLEIpowersfutureleaders #theCsuiteteachesatTCU #neeleypromise #leadontcu Nikki Morris Mike Slattery Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien Hannah Whorton Tom Seng, Ed.D. Happy Boss’s Day to the one and only Mike Slattery. He is a giraffe-roping, rhino-saving, rugby-loving, world-traveling South African. He also is a longtime and beloved professor in the TCU College of Science and Engineering, a big driver of the RLEI’s ongoing joint research project with the U.S. Department of Defense, and our interim executive director for the next 10 days. His willingness to take on that role this summer and now transition to the interim director of research at the institute is why he’s the best teammate. #theRLEIpowersresearch #neeleypromise #leadonTCU Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien Tom Seng, Ed.D. Looking forward to listening to TCU finance professor Tom Seng, Ed.D.’s tech talk at the AAPL’s Women in Energy Institute on Tuesday in Houston. Professor Seng helped reimagine the Energy Business minor at Neeley. His knowledge of the latest technology, his research on markets, and his connections with industry have been instrumental in creating energy courses that make almost every TCU degree more marketable. It is also why he is sought after as a speaker and for interviews. #theRLEIpowersthebusinessofenergy #theRLEIpowersyourTCUdegree #neeleypromise #leadonTCU Nikki Morris Mike Slattery Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien AAPL - American Association of Professional Landmen Le'Ann Callihan Texas Christian University - M.J. Thank you to the Horned Frog community for always delivering the best welcomes. Incoming RLEI executive director Nikki Morris joined TCU leadership, including President Daniel W. Pullin, for the Riff Ram Roadshow in Houston this week and she walked away even more energized about developing global leaders in the business of energy. Houston is important to the institute because so many of our alumni, current students, industry partners, and board members have deep roots there. Also Morris earned her MBA from Rice. So expect to see a lot more of us in Houston in the months ahead. #therleipowersthebusinessofenergy #theRLEIpowersHouston #neeleypromise #leadontcu Mike Slattery Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien Tom Seng, Ed.D. The Ralph Lowe Energy Institute at the TCU Neeley School of Business is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with JPMorganChase, marking the financial institution as a Legendary Bank Partner. This collaboration, which was formally unveiled during TCU Energy Week, aims to develop pragmatic, collaborative, and business-minded energy solutions. The partnership builds on a foundation of previous collaboration between the institute and JPMorganChase. This engagement is crucial in preparing the next generation of leaders in energy finance, policy, research, and innovation. “JPMorganChase is proud to build on our important and longstanding partnership with TCU, which has been instrumental to our investment in Fort Worth,” said J.T. Aughinbaugh, vice chair of JPMorganChase’s market leadership team in North Texas and a TCU alumnus. “This partnership is not just about advancing energy solutions, but also about investing in the future leaders and innovators who will drive our local economy forward. Together, we are creating opportunities that benefit both TCU students and the broader Fort Worth community.” TCU students will also have access to unique engagement opportunities with industry leaders through exclusive mentorship programs and experiential learning initiatives. In the spring, Ben Ratner, Executive Director at JPMorganChase, presented his work on methane emissions at the RLEI’s 2024 Global Energy Symposium, demonstrating the meaningful ways in which the two organizations are already working together to address critical energy issues. #theRLEIpowercollaboration #theRLEIpowersthebusinessofenergy #neeleypromise #leadonTCU Nikki Morris Mike Slattery Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien Tom Seng, Ed.D. It’s official and we here at the RLEI are thrilled. Craig Crossland, Dean of the Neeley School of Business, announced Nikki Morris as the new executive director of the RLEI on Tuesday. All of the details are in the post. What we hope Horned Frogs take away from this news is the life-changing power of being willing to pivot, to try another lane, to enter the adult transfer portal. Change is rarely easy but Morris bravely took the leap because she believes in the importance of building the leaders she knows the energy space needs. As Jason Bateman said on the "Smartless" podcast this week: “Confidence lives on the other side of doing the thing.” #theRLEIpowersfutureleaders #theRLEIpowersthebusinessofenergy #neeleypromise #leadontcu Mike Slattery Jennifer Floyd Engel Meredith O'Brien Tom Seng, Ed.D. Let’s give Nikki Morris a resounding welcome to TCU, as she begins a new leadership position as the executive director for the TCU Ralph Lowe Energy Institute . We’re actually welcoming Nikki back. Before she successfully achieved more than 17 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, as an executive leader, geologist and a trailblazer working at international oil companies and startups, Nikki was a Horned Frog twice over. She earned her undergraduate degree and master’s degree here, and met her husband, John, on campus as well. Now Nikki is bringing the collection of her professional experience to the future of energy at TCU. Classroom innovation, world-class faculty, corporate partnership and industry leaders, all come together to lead the way with the business of energy at the Ralph Lowe Energy Institute. Nikki’s start date is Monday, Oct. 28. When you see her, be sure to greet her with a big – Go Frogs! #TCUAlumna #LeadOnTCU Texas Christian University TCU College of Science and Engineering
