This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary dedication our Music Department has exhibited towards music education. It is through the collaborative efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders that music has become an integral component of a comprehensive education for all. 🎉 Congratulations to Ramsey's Dr. Donna Volpe, our Director of Special Education, who successfully defended her doctoral dissertation. Dr. Volpe defended her dissertation in front of a panel from Montclair State University, with several colleagues and family members supporting her in the audience. Why it matters: Dr. Volpe’s dissertation, “Educators Reimagining the Experiences of Multilingual Learners in the Classroom: A Practitioner Action Research Study,” embodies her dedication to embracing inclusive practices and fostering a culture where everyone belongs. 👏 Well done, Dr. Volpe! Ramsey appreciates your tireless efforts to maximize the growth potential for all students.

Ramsey teachers were hard at work today working on curriculum and also exploring AI in education. To help frame the work around AI, we had the pleasure of working with Greg Kulowiec, one of the best ed tech consultants in the country.
The Kulowiec Group - Academic Innovation Consulting Triton Regional School District - Director of Technology
I always enjoy working with the educators in Ramsey, New Jersey. They are a thoughtful and engaging group, who are consistently learning leaders in the world of academic technology. Today, we explored artificial intelligence and the potential impact on their role as educators, and the impact on their students. We looked at foundational thinking around AI, understanding how it can provide both significant opportunities and create challenges and risks at the same time. My hope is that everyone left our day together, able to balance two conflicting perspectives. First, a healthy skepticism around AI and second, to be able to embrace a tempered optimism. We discussed that unlike any other technology that has entered the classroom in the past, AI did not allow educators time to explore and understand the technology before it was adopted. This time, the technology was thrust upon educators, students and education as a whole, swiftly and all at once. Our day together was designed to recognize the challenges educators are facing, while also considering the significant opportunities that AI presents. Thinking of AI as a 'Thought Partner' is an approach that educators and students can consider to frame thinking around the incorporation of AI. Focusing on student "cheating" will derail us from considering the vast potential that AI has to offer. Student AI use should never be “instead" of any meaningful human interaction. At the same time, it can play a beneficial role in creating opportunities for students, including individualized support, feedback, debate and brainstorming that would otherwise not be possible. We must consider, how might AI act as a partner to foster creative, critical and deep thinking? Ramsey School District Ramsey High School Andrew Matteo
