About us

What is Rapid Genomics? Rapid Genomics develops and delivers innovative genomic applications to agribusinesses. The agricultural, forestry and livestock industries have been increasingly adopting genomic technologies to develop genetically improved germplasm for bioenergy, food and fiber production. Rapid Genomics enables the application of these technologies by delivering genotyping and data analysis with numerous advantages over competing technologies. Why Rapid Genomics? The obstacles to the wider and faster adoption of genomic technologies to the improvement of crops and livestock is the high cost, low through-put and limited flexibility of genotyping methods. We offer an innovative solution to customers in genetic analysis that rely on a flexible, high-throughput and low-cost methods of genotyping. Rapid Genomics offers breeding from beginning to end. Not just genotyping, but services to ensure that our customers can apply this genome improvement of their products.

Need help scaling? Our goal is to help companies genotype more samples every year with less budget. We designed FLEX-Seq EX-L technology to be affordable, consistent, and more importantly, scalable up to millions of samples. FLEX-Seq EX-L is the fast and flexible genotyping solution for a variety of applications. Chip-based genotyping arrays are inflexible and cannot readily scale. Single-marker genotyping cannot provide the full picture and markers are difficult to develop. Why not use the best technology to advance your breeding goal with as many markers as needed? Kit pricing for internal use or available as a standalone service. We offer commercial automation for commercial level genotyping. https://lnkd.in/dT-PnrnP #technology #automation #genotyping #economicdevelopment #morewithless #NGS #breeding #molecularbiology #corn #maize #soybean #cotton #pigs #horses #cattle #poultry #tomatoes #cannabis

The basis of genomic selection (GS) is to exploit genomic predicting models on a set of genetic markers distributed across the genome to predict the phenotypic performance of a given trait in a wide range of genotypes. However, the accuracy of these models have been of scrutiny of late due to various factors including the type of genotyping platform used. SNP chips and array based platforms have been the norm up until the past few years but are inflexible and can result in missing data as breeding programs evolve. GBS is attractive but if the genome is large or polyploid, read allocations to important regions of the genome suffer, resulting in extra costs in sequencing or time. At LGC Biosearch Technologies, we've had several requests from our #soybean breeders for a flexible platform suitable for genomic selection so we came up with a solution. When we look at genomic selection in soy, there are studies showing haplotype based genotyping, or genotyping by looking at long stretches of sequences and grouped SNPs, can be anywhere from 5-10% more accurate in predicting complex traits than traditional SNP based genotyping. With this in mind, we've worked with industry experts to develop a set of targeted 5.5K loci of 250-500 bp in length with our FLEX-Seq genotyping technology for a perfect fit of reliable data return without any noise. Available as a service option, we are proud to announce the commercial release of this product for soy breeders of all needs. FLEX-Seq is Flexible! The platform can be modified with markers of interest and be upscaled or downscaled depending on your needs. Reach out today to learn more or get a quote!
