Tyesha is our latest #WeeklyWarrior. She lives with a rare disease, SMA Type 3, which has affected her mobility. "I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3. I was diagnosed at 28 years old after having some weakness. I could no longer walk without assistance so I got a rollator walker at the age of 41. I am on a gene therapy medicine called Eversdi."

d&i Leaders (Diversity and Inclusion Leaders) is a vibrant global community uniting senior professionals dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and people-centric strategies. A recent article underscores the critical importance of integrating neurodiverse individuals into business and leadership roles. It emphasizes that organizations must develop comprehensive strategies in partnership with neurodivergent employees to ignite innovation and propel these individuals into leadership positions. The article also showcases several organizations making remarkable strides in this vital area. However, a Rare Patient Voice study including nearly n=1200 respondents with neurodiversity reveals a significant hurdle: many neurodiverse individuals hesitate to disclose their neurodiversity or request accommodations. Fortunately, some proposed solutions in the article aim to remove the need for such requests entirely, which is a promising development. Yet, in environments lacking these supportive strategies, it is crucial to dismantle the fear associated with asking for accommodations, ensuring that there are no negative repercussions for doing so. The future of neuro-inclusion appears promising, and there is hope for the widespread implementation of effective strategies across all organizations.
