The Ribbon Has Been Cut! marking the completion of the second and final phase of Stanford Health Care's pediatric emergency department renovation. After designing the award winning Peds ED expansion, our healthcare team had to address a few more necessary features, such as negative pressure areas, two-bed and dynamic treatment rooms, along with general cosmetic upgrades, and we have now come full circle. Always a thrilling milestone to see the exterior solar shade system getting installed—it means we're one step closer to students and teachers occupying the spaces! As construction nears completion, we can't wait to share the final photography of Blue Oak Middle School in downtown Napa. #k12architecture #schooldesign #ratcliff #napa

The importance of architecture lies in its service to the well-being of our society—where better to start than with the education of our children?

Stanford Medicine | Planning, Design + Construction (PD+C) is excited to announce the completion of the ED Patient Care Space project at the 300 Pasteur Drive inpatient facility. The expanded unit now features 17 treatment bays, 2 nurse stations, a telehealth private room, and offices to enhance patient care services for the community. The 5,600 sq ft area underwent extensive remodeling, including upgrades to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection systems, technology integration, advanced medical equipment, and interior finishes. The project was successfully carried out in collaboration with clinical teams to minimize disruptions to patient care, underscoring the dedication and hard work of the entire project team. We extend our gratitude to all team members for their invaluable contributions to the project's success within a compressed timeline. Ratcliff’s summer high school internship program was a great success! Students from Oakland's Unified School District gained valuable hands-on experience applying their creativity to the architectural design process. Through the development of a conceptual public park installation they learned how the built environment comes to life. Final design concepts--presented to the entire office--were nothing short of amazing! Thank you to our Ratcliff staff members, Margarita, Ryan, and Mariana, for championing this program and allowing participants to explore architecture as a career path post-graduation. A big shout-out to our construction partner XL Construction for their support!

It’s probably safe to say that no one wants to end up in the hospital. Being sick and away from home is especially stressful for children, which is why Ratcliff’s design team was laser-focused on creating a comfortable and inspiring environment for the renovated Acute Care Unit at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals in Oakland. Bright colors, amorph patterns and plenty of natural light are some of the biophilic elements which were incorporated to brighten up the room and lift our young patients’ spirits. A big shout out to all of our collaborators who made it possible to deliver this project on time and under(!) budget -- Herrero Builders, Rutherford + Chekene, Oldham Engineering, Silverman & Light, Inc, Potter Fire Protection Inc. #Healthcare #Architecture #Healing #Interior Design #Children's Hospital

In honor of Pride Month, we invited Sarah Woynicz, AIA and Beau Frail, AIA, NCARB, two of the co-authors of "Out in Architecture" to speak at Ratcliff's annual Pride lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about their experiences and celebrate their advocacy for LGBTQIA+ representation in the architecture industry. Architecture is a place for all, and we’re reminded of how impactful inclusion and intersectionality can be to foster a safe workspace and amazing outcomes for the communities we serve. #Pride #OutinArchitecture

Through hard work, perseverance and support from Ratcliff during the planning and permitting process, Oakland’s St. John's Episcopal Church has finally been blessed with achieving a major milestone towards completing the Gateway project. Graced with the presence of Mayor Sheng Thao, church leaders broke ground on a much-needed bridge, which will drastically enhance visibility and promote safety and accessibility for the community and emergency services. https://lnkd.in/gSiRjhe2

As proud supporters of Peralta Community College District’s annual “Swing for Success” fundraiser, we enjoyed a wonderful day at the Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland. Joined by XL Construction and Degenkolb Engineers, we had yet another opportunity to celebrate Berkeley City College’s Milvia Street expansion while hosting a fun game of SpinTheWheel for all players.
