The long-term recruitment and retention of educators of color is dependent on leaders and systems responding to their need for professional and financial support. Studies show systems that provide culturally responsive in-service training to educators are more likely to retain them long-term. According to both DIVERSITY in Ed magazine and Real Men Teach, educators of color prefer in-service professionals that will allow them to compete for leadership positions, address systems through policy change, while also engaging with the local community to bring their personal passions and gifts into the school building. We're grateful that fellow Education Leaders of Color member Curtis Valentine has invited Dr. Rudy Ruiz to join NFBLME: The National Fellowship for Black and Latino Male Educators Founder Keith Brooks and other leaders of color to serve as panelists in this important upcoming series you won't want to miss.
