Rich's son, Duncan, was just 12 years old when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He underwent various chemotherapy treatments for four years, successfully thankfully, but the chemo did cause damaging side effects. Like many people rallying to fight cancer, the Glew family is passionate about helping to develop better treatments. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds innovative therapies that improve survival rates for all cancers and reduce the damaging effects of current chemo regimens. The Big Climb Philly is one of the LLS fundraising events and was actually founded by Duncan in 2016 after participating in the LLS Big Climb Seattle. The Glew family moved to the Greater Philadelphia area from Seattle so that Duncan could receive treatment from Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP). In honor of Duncan, this is Rebound's third consecutive year participating in LLS's Big Climb Philly.
