Big news! ReCarbon, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new initiative to transform waste #biogas into #cleanhydrogen in partnership with the City of Lancaster (CA), at a wastewater treatment facility owned and operated by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD). The Antelope Valley Circular Hydrogen Initiative (AVCHI) is a multi-stakeholder, public-private partnership with the goal of transforming waste biogases into clean hydrogen to help fuel the growth of the local #cleanenergy economy and provide energy and #economicresilience in the Antelope Valley. The partnership is launching with the development of an innovative pilot plant where ReCarbon will take biogas from the wastewater treatment plant and produce clean hydrogen. Lancaster has agreed to purchase the hydrogen to help fuel its long-term hydrogen development plans. With demand growing in the region, the AVCHI will be focused on increasing the availability of clean, #lowcarbon #hydrogen while laying out a road map for recycling and utilizing waste gases into critically needed #cleanfuel. The partnership aims to provide the Antelope Valley community with clean, #renewable hydrogen power, thus reducing pollution and furthering #environmentaljustice goals. Just announced! Today, the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES H2) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) officially announced the signing of a landmark $12.6 billion agreement, including up to $1.2 billion from the DOE and $11.4 billion in public and private matching funds, to build and expand clean energy infrastructure across California. ARCHES is the first of the seven H2Hubs to officially sign their agreement with the DOE. This transformative investment, which will directly reduce California’s reliance on fossil fuels, marks a major step forward in the state’s efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral economy by 2045. The overall investment, starting with $30 million for the first tranche of funding out of the total project federal cost share of up to $1.2 billion, is projected to create over 220,000 well-paying jobs. At full build out, it is estimated that ARCHES DOE projects will result in $2.95 billion per year in decreased healthcare costs due to improved air quality, particularly along transportation corridors. The future continues to happen here in California first! https://lnkd.in/gDP3vXJY

Big things are happening at the local level. Case in point: Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) are testing and assessing new #cleantechnologies as part of a systematic effort to transform waste into clean valuable resources like hydrogen, methanol and SAF. ReCarbon, Inc. is really excited to be one of those climate technologies - and will be testing our technology at a wastewater treatment plant run by LACSD where we will transform waste emissions (#methane and #carbondioxide) and create #cleanhydrogen. Another of our partners in this is local climate champion, the City of Lancaster, who is building an entire hydrogen driven local economy. #Cleanhydrogen has a critical role to play in the overall #decarbonization of the economy, complementing the greening of the electric grid, powered by renewable resources. Incorporating and incentivizing #circularity into our energy economy will mean scaling #wastetocleanfuels projects and technologies. The packed house at the California Hydrogen Leadership Summit in Sacramento heard from a wide range of leaders, highlighting the importance of bringing together community, labor, government and industry in building a #climateeconomy that benefits all - win/win/win. The sharp insights offered were clearly informed by the real world projects and programs that are already delivering results. Really impactful gathering at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 2024 ARPA-E Summit in Dallas Texas. I found it a source of climate hope with inspiring and motivating speakers and panels, all laser-focused on action. Thousands of scientists, entrepreneurs, policy makers and smart visionary DOE staff all focused on growing the #climateeconomy. DOE Sec. Jennifer Granholm reminded the assembled that ideas can turn into industries if we step up to the plate and swing for the fences. For many in the room her reminder to embrace failure as the first step to success resonated deeply. Here's to doing it big and swinging for the fences to create a climate positive future. Pictured below - a great panel on scaling a clean hydrogen economy with Adria Wilson, Ph.D. (Breakthrough Energy), Wei Cai (T.EN CTO), Emily Yedinak, PhD (Koloma), Sunita Satyapal (US DOE), and Michael E.
