It was so wonderful to host Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife Dianne Cleaver in the Kitchen today — they are true advocates for our community! Reconciliation Services

We've said it before, and it's worth saying again — volunteers make our world go 'round. We've had a number of amazing volunteer groups in Thelma's Kitchen over the past several weeks, and we want to shout them out! Thanks to VML, St. Paul's UMC, Church of the Resurrection Leawood, and Flourish - A Furniture Bank for each sending some of their crew to help in the Kitchen recently! Currently we have the most volunteer opportunities available in Thelma's Kitchen, but we've also begun having volunteers help the REVEAL case management team and assist with Foster Grandparents! Interested in getting involved? Email mmarcus@rs3101.org to learn more.

We loved having this Newhouse crew in RS & Thelma's Kitchen this week!
Innovative Empathetic Disruptor | Strategically Wired Visionary | Keynote Speaker + People Motivator | Community + Social Impact Maker
On Tuesday, the Newhouse team visited our friends at Reconciliation Services to tour their newly renovated spaces and to learn more about their plans for future growth. We are so grateful for such innovative and impactful community partners, who share our passion and commitment to driving equitable and transformative generational change. Congratulations, to Father Justin Mathews and team for all you have accomplished and for all that’s yet to come! THANK YOU for the difference you are making in the lives of so many ♥️ If you or your company is looking for a beautiful place to host a training or event, you’ve got to check out Reconciliation Services event space! Capacity for up to 150 (depending on seating set up), stunning natural light and views, and delicious catering through Thelma's Kitchen. Check it out! And speaking of food… when lunch rolls around or you’re trying to decide where to go for that lunch meeting, head to Thelma’s Kitchen! No where in our city can you break bread with friends, the unhoused, families with limited resources, and business professionals all in the same space. EVERYONE is welcome at Thelma’s, and no one hungry is turned away. ♥️

We are so thrilled about this partnership!
🌟Expanding Access to HappyBottoms Programs🌟 HappyBottoms gives Happy Packs, in all diaper and pull-up sizes, to organizations who see parents in a moment of unexpected crisis or when they are seeking resources. Reconciliation Services is one such organization that keeps a supply of Happy Packs on hand for parents in the REVEAL (Restore-Engage-Value-Encourage-Act-Lead) Program, which offers a comprehensive approach to individual and community healing through essential social services, case management, and therapeutic services. Connecting mothers or fathers to diaper assistance not only helps their children, but also provides the REVEAL Care Coordinators one less resource to find.

One of the central components of Thelma's Kitchen is our dream to turn dividing lines — like Troost Ave. historically has been — into gathering places. That's why we have two long community tables in our cafe — they're big enough to seat multiple groups in one shared space, ideally groups from all walks of life and worldviews. When we sit with people who are different than us, do you know what happens? Community building. Mutual understanding. Meaningful conversations. Come into the cafe and experience it for yourself — and get some top notch food while you're at it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who joined us for the Hike for Reconciliation on Saturday — it was a day of thoughtful reflection, great food, and community building. On top of it all, we raised $46,000 to go toward supporting our neighbors with critical services like case management and trauma therapy.
