Recovery Works NW is thrilled to celebrate one year of operations and over 1,000 treatments at our Foster Road Withdrawal Management ('detox') facility in SE Portland. The majority of these treatments have been interruptions of deadly illicit fentanyl dependencies, in addition to alcohol, and stimulant dependencies. This life-saving medical detoxification capacity, representing a nearly 20% increase in capacity in the Portland Metro Area, was brought online with one time support from Oregon Measure 110 and the Oregon Health Authority. This facility's operations are now sustained by medical billing ensuring this center will be serving NW Oregon for decades to come without the need for ongoing grant funding. The ROI for Oregon on this $1.1M investment is astronomical.
But a detox facility alone is not sufficient to respond to the fentanyl crisis devastating communities in Oregon. Our team at the Foster Road Facility work tirelessly to place every participant who is willing into ongoing substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, but there is an alarming shortage of residential SUD treatment beds, as described in the Oregon Behavioral Health Residential & Facility Study commissioned by Oregon Governor Tina Kotek and released in June. This shortage of residential treatment capacity, estimated to be over 1,000 beds in the Portland Metro Area and North Oregon Coast alone, causes wait times and gaps in treatment between detoxification and ongoing treatment that is costing lives.
This is why our leadership team has been on the search for the perfect residential SUD treatment facility, and we are thrilled to announce we have found it! Now we are seeking support from our community to bring 32 bed of residential SUD treatment (ASAM Level 3.5 & 3.7R) on line in Multnomah County, ensuring seamless continuation of care for individuals accessing care at the Foster Road Facility.
***With support from our elected and regulatory partners we will bring this sorely needed 32 beds of residential SUD treatment capacity online and fully operating within one year of funding, just as we did with the Foster Road Withdrawal Management Facility.***
The need is extreme. Our team is ready to go. And we have a reputation for getting things done.
Here's to a healthier Oregon!
