Had a super weekend at Daytona International Speedway supporting my client Schultz Engineered Products. We met some great racers and potential customers during the Classic 24 Hours of Daytona. To see the meticulous restoration of classic sportscars motivates us further to support such passionate enthusiasts and professional organizations. The weekend was made even more enjoyable thanks to the hospitality and top-notch customers service of Historic Sportscar Racing. Especially enjoyed this collaboration with VISIT FLORIDA

  • I wanted to say something profound, but everything I have written has fallen flat. How do you put into words the importance of a life, about saving a life? September is National Suicide Prevention Month. There is one death by suicide every 11 minutes in the United States, and recent data shows that 1.6 million Americans have attempted suicide. This past weekend, I participated in an “Out of the Darkness Walk” in Deland, FL, not only because my life was impacted by suicide but because 1.6 million Americans need to know there is hope, that their story matters, their lives matter. Through Red Helm Communications, I hoped to help spread awareness for this very important cause. Through my actions, I hope to bring at least a bit of kindness, compassion, and understanding. #HonoringCooter

  • Represented one of my favorite clients at the picturesque Lime Rock Park this weekend. The Speedway and the sanctioning bodies did an incredible job helping to preserve the history of auto racing by combining legendary talents with up-and-coming racers. I had the opportunity to meet some of our current fueling technologies customers and made great new connections all while enjoying great racing, beautiful race cars, and unexpected time with old friends.

I got to experience #TheGreatElephantMigration in Newport, RI, this past weekend. The traveling exhibition features over 100 life-size, wooden elephant structures, and is intended to promote human-wildlife coexistence as a solution to biodiversity loss. Overlooking the Atlantic, these handmade structures are presented by Elephant Family USA in collaboration with Dodie Kazanjian of Art&Newport, and various contemporary artists.  The sculptures were created by The Coexistence Collective, a community of 200 indigenous artisans in the Nilgiri Hills of South India. They are made from lantana camara, an invasive weed that encroaches on wildlife habitat. The herd can be viewed on the famous Newport Cliff Walk at Rough Point, The Breakers, and Salve Regina University. Get up close to the amazing sculptures free of charge at the University. I highly recommend checking out this poignant exhibit, it is in Newport until September 7, 2024.

  • A new report by Pew Research Center further highlights the distrust of media and may call for a switch in PR strategy for small businesses. A preponderance of social media users get their news from non-traditional sources. “About 68% of news consumers on TikTok said they get their news from influencers or celebrities rather than traditional news outlets. On Facebook, 85% of users are likely to say they get their news from friends, family, and acquaintances.”
