Let’s dive into his journey and insights! 🚀 💡 What inspired you to join Red Van, and how has your journey been so far? "I had heard nothing but amazing things about Red Van, and I wanted to be part of something really cool and bigger than myself. From chatting with others, I got the impression that Red Van was filled with amazing developers who went above and beyond for their clients and were always ready and willing to assist fellow coworkers when they hit any hardships. I’ve been here for over 3 years now and everything I was told has been nothing short of true. I love getting to work for some of the coolest projects and work alongside some of the smartest people. I’ve also had the opportunity to work on various Salesforce clouds, which makes me happy as it sharpens my skill set and allows me to help other Red Vanners when needed." 📚 How do you stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in enterprise commerce? "I read a lot of articles and watch videos about the current and upcoming trends within the world of JavaScript. Also, even though it’s been a bit since I last wrote, I have a blog where I write articles on how to do some of the more fun things with JavaScript and front-end technologies as a whole." 🎧 As Red Van is a fully remote company, what tips do you have to stay productive and connected to your team? "Using a productivity timer and note-taking app to keep track of my day-to-day requirements has been crucial. Starting the day by writing down all the things I need to do and then updating it as I go about my day helps me to have a clearer picture of what I have left to do and is extremely important. I also keep my blinds open to get lots of natural light, and I play calming music in my home office. I find that the more comfortable and inviting my home office feels, the more work I get done." 🍻 What is one fun or interesting fact about you? Have you had 15 mins of fame? "I used to run a monthly meetup centered around the worlds of software development and craft beer. Cincinnati, OH is a city that has a deep love of all things craft beer, so we would meet at a new brewery each month to hang out and network. We even had a few local coding boot camps attend, and their graduates were able to network with local industry professionals, which led to some job placements.     🌟 Meet Our Enterprise Commerce Experts 🌟 Another week, another highlight of the talented individuals who make Red Van a leader in the #digitalcommerce industry. 🚀 👋🏽 What inspired you to join Red Van, and how has your journey been so far? "Nearly 9 years ago, when two of the founding partners first approached me with the opportunity to join Red Van I was hesitant due to a previous unfavorable experience with a start up. After some persistence on their part I decided to take a chance. At that time, I had no experience in the Demandware space, having only worked with .NET C#. Since then, I have grown my skills and received my architect certification earlier this year. I have had the privilege of witnessing the company grow from a small team of 14 people, including the partners, to what it is today." 🌠 What sets Red Van apart from other agencies when it comes to handling complex and custom enterprise commerce solutions? "Red Van is uniquely positioned as a fully remote, on-shore company. This structure enables us to collaborate with top talent from across the United States. I have the pleasure of working with some of the brightest minds in the industry, which sets us apart and allows us to leverage their expertise to develop exceptional solutions." 🎢 Outside of your professional life, what are some hobbies or interests that you’re passionate about? "Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We are passionate about Disney and visit Disney World three to four times each year as Annual Passholders. Beyond our Disney adventures, I engage in activities such as kickball, bowling, and golfing. Additionally, in my spare time, I am a licensed real estate agent in the State of Michigan." 👨🏽💻 As Red Van is a fully remote company, what tips do you have to stay productive and connected to your team? "While working 100% remotely presents certain challenges, it also provides an exceptional level of flexibility. The ability to set my own hours and work at my own pace, without constant oversight, allows me to focus on delivering high-quality results. As long as my work is completed on time, there are few questions asked. To maintain effective communication and collaboration, I utilize various Slack channels to stay connected with my colleagues both within the company and on specific projects. "I joined Red Van because of the exceptional partners and the company they were building. Having previously worked with them, I was impressed by their intelligence, creativity, and approachable nature. I was drawn to the idea of being part of a small, close-knit team that is energetic, highly skilled, and values humor and enjoyment in their work rather than fostering a high-pressure, high-stress environment." 🌐 What do you enjoy most about working on enterprise commerce projects, and how does it differ from other markets you've worked in? "Ecommerce stands out for its constant adoption of the latest technologies and functionalities, making the work more interesting. It ensures I stay connected to industry trends and remain professionally relevant." ❤️ Outside of your professional life, what are some hobbies or interests that you’re passionate about? "While 'passionate' may be too strong a word, I am deeply committed to helping at-risk youth. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children, I strive to be a constant presence in their lives throughout the life of their case. Given that case teams often change multiple times throughout the case lifecycle, adding to the children's stress, the CASA remains a stable figure, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are prioritized." 📞 As Red Van is a fully remote company, what tips do you have to stay productive and connected to your team? "Staying and feeling connected can be challenging. I have found that verbal communication with my team, rather than relying solely on texting, significantly enhances our connection. Though it requires extra effort, the benefits are substantial. Hearing each other's voices helps foster better understanding and creates a stronger sense of camaraderie." "The Cutting Edge: We here at Red Van, on top of providing excellent service and care to our customers, strive to be on the cutting edge of technology as it pertains to the commerce experience. I strive for this myself as a person who loves to learn and grow. Staying stagnant in a role has never been my way, and I am passionate about growing in my personal and professional skill sets, which Red Van has helped me achieve as our team faces various challenges. I am glad to say the journey has been great so far, and I am looking forward to further growth as we overcome challenges that come with expanding our horizons." 💡 As Red Van is a fully remote company, what tips do you have to stay productive and connected to your team? "Don’t hesitate to ask for a quick meeting; impromptu meetings are the closest that you can get to dropping by a coworker's desk and collaborating. It may seem easier to just send a teammate a message, but in my experience, nothing derives solutions, connection, and trust than speaking to your co-workers in a meeting. Always give credit where credit is due; this is especially important in a remote environment. The distance can make others feel disconnected and siloed, but when people can feel that their work and efforts matter, this recognition helps alleviate those feelings." 🤸 What is one fun or interesting fact about you? "I was a competitive gymnast for 9 years and won first place at the Southeastern (Region 8) regionals competition for vault." 🔑 What are key factors that you have found, outside of just delivering quality work, that have led to the success of a project and the trust of customers? "There are two areas that I focus on when looking to engage and build trust with our customers: 1. Understand your client's wants and needs: I start with seeking to understand the client's needs through active listening, visualizing myself in their position, and asking clarifying questions. I take the trust that the customer is putting in us very personally - their success is my success, and a thorough understanding is vital to the process. 2. Seek open communication with the customer: My goal is that the customer always feels comfortable coming to our team with any questions about the development cycle. Here at Red Van, we truly care that our customers feel heard and feel part of the process and team. In this way, we allow for better collaboration and communication, instilling trust and assurance with our customers."
