The quality of your data dictates the quality of your output. We recently put that principle to the test with a RAG benchmark that uses a scanned 10-K filing and 823 question/answer pairs (created by LlamaIndex). We then compared Reducto AI (YC W24)'s performance and speed with others in the space and the results below speak for themselves.

Messages like these never get old! Part of the reason why we started Reducto AI (YC W24) in the first place was because we were frustrated with existing solutions for our own RAG pipeline. We really see document processing as a bottleneck that teams are forced to build themselves simply because they can't rely on vendors for high quality ingestion. Our hope is that a more reliable offering will allow developers to focus on what really matters.

Last week Ben Silbermann, the founder of Pinterest, came in to Y Combinator to give a talk about his founding journey. There are two parts of his story that really resonated for me: 1) Pinterest was born from a love for the use case and its users. Even though the website didn't go viral immediately, Ben and his team had so much excitement about the way their early users were using the product that they were able to build the best UX for it. 2) Someone asked if Ben thinks that building software is overcrowded now or less viable than it was when Pinterest was founded. Ben had a really compelling answer about how even though tech is more popular now, we're also now at a point in time where the scope of what can be built is greater than ever before. He noted how we're finally at a period in history where we suddenly have self driving cars, software that can communicate just like humans, hardware that can create really immersive digital realities and more. There will inevitably be founders that build on top of all of these changes to create the next generation of companies. Never been more excited to keep building Reducto AI (YC W24). #entrepreneurship #startups
