Is Carta a brand you want your company to be associated with? Carta has had a rough few weeks and the Board has still done nothing substantial to regain the trust of their customers(ie CEO change would make sense guys it is kind of obvious). Maybe informing clients about any other uses of data that have happened etc? Also publicly stating the number of clients affected by the use of data for sales purposes (CartaX and otherwise), I have gotten a lot of sales calls due to my ownership in certain startups that may use Carta as a cap table provider... The previous CTO in his medium post details serious allegations of misconduct against the CEO and other issues at the company and is worth a read (https://lnkd.in/g4xvGuxh). Maybe the VC community needs to find a new cap table provider that treats its employees and customers with the respect they deserve. There are many more reputable providers on the cap table and valuation side to help. Most of those solutions are less than the yearly cost of Carta.

#carta Carta accused of misusing Client data We have been following the news about the alleged misuse of client data at Carta. While their CEO is in clean up mode he has not completely been upfront about other lines of business that are utilizing the Client data without permission or notice. We have seen multiple valuation reports performed by Carta where they use aggregated private data from clients in order to perform a 409A valuation for other clients. No other valuation firm utilizes non-public client data (aggregated or not) to prepare valuations given this would be a breach of trust. All this client data used may be made public in the event of an IRS or SEC audit. As a result, thousands of clients would have their private data revealed. Carta needs to come clean and disclose all of the ways it is using their client data and what risks they are creating for their clients.
