Enhancing Grid Stability through Demand-Side Flexibility 🔋 📢 A recent study by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre highlights the crucial role of Demand-Side Flexibility (DSF) in integrating renewable energy into the EU’s power systems. 📊 Key findings: Flexibility requirements, which accounted for 11% of total electricity demand in 2021, are projected to more than double to 24% by 2030 and could reach 30% by 2050! 🚀 As Europe moves towards a greener energy transition, DSF will be a key enabler for grid stability and renewable energy integration. 🔗 Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/dQAmNtWd 💡 How is REEFLEX contributing? Exciting Updates from WP6 in REEFLEX! 🚀 We’re thrilled to share the latest milestones from WP6, a pivotal part of the REEFLEX project. Over the past months, we have successfully completed essential planning and monitoring tasks to ensure a seamless deployment across our pilot sites. With field preparations now underway in Spain, Greece, Switzerland, and Bulgaria, we are advancing equipment installations and integrating REEFLEX solutions to kick off demonstration activities. ⚡ These updates were presented during the 4th General Assembly, held at CIRCE’s premises in Zaragoza on November 20–21, 2024, marking another important step toward enhancing demand-side flexibility in Europe. 💡 Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we move forward! Revolutionising Electricity System with REEFLEX’s Local Flexibility market! 🚀 T5.2 of REEFLEX project aims to define the technical and market requirements of Local Flexibility market. Having this objective in mind, OMI - Polo Español (OMIE) is working on setting the functionalities, stakeholders, and main parameters of the 3 modules that drives this market which are the register and validation module, the negotiation module, and the settlement module. 📊 Also, OMIE together with task’s partners is standardizing theinformation exchange standards and the protocols that DSOs, flexibility assets and aggregators will use to connect to the Local Flexibility Market. Exciting news from REEFLEX project’s market model! 🚀 OMI - Polo Español (OMIE)  has studied the success cases of Local Flexibility markets across five European countries discovering that UK is the most advanced one where local flexibility markets are business as usual, while Italy,Portugal, Sweden and Norway are at an initial stage, carrying out pilot projects. 💡 This study sheds light on how these emerging markets are performing in Europe, bringing to light that in 3/5 of the countries analysed local flexibility market are managed by a #NEMO (Nominated Electricity Market Operator). ⚡ Further, in all countries except Portugal local flexibility markets are composed by a long-term market and a short-term market. The former allows negotiating foreseen DSO needs some time in advance to real time, and the latter allows negotiation very close to real-time. 🤝 #REEFLEXProject #LocalFlexibilityMarkets #FlexibilityParticipationInMarkets #EnergyInnovation #UnlockingFlexibility  #Sustainability  #EnergyTransition
