"It was equally groundbreaking to visually confirm that the SCINTIX treatment responded to the tumor’s motion and delivered the dose precisely as planned. With conventional radiotherapy, once treatment commences, there is no visual assurance of what is happening inside the patient." Henry S. Park, MD, MPH, Chief, Biology-guided Radiotherapy Program, Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine. https://bit.ly/3XHn7DP

SCINTIX biology-guided radiotherapy is now FDA cleared.
About us
SCINTIX biology-guided radiotherapy now FDA cleared. SCINTIX® therapy detects and responds to signals emitted from the cancer itself and, for the first time, uses them to deliver immediate treatment for tumors in the lung or bone that may arise from primary or metastatic disease.

Congratulations, Henry S. Park, MD, MPH, and the entire team at Yale Cancer Center on this exciting milestone!
Using SCINTIX, Smilow Cancer Hospital announced the successful delivery of the world’s first radiotherapy treatment plan combining different radiotherapy modalities to treat a patient with metastatic cancer. "By integrating different treatment modalities within the same plan, we can tailor an optimal treatment approach for each tumor,” said Henry S. Park, MD, MPH, chief, Biology-guided Radiotherapy Program, Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine and radiation oncologist, Smilow Cancer Hospital. “For this patient, SCINTIX therapy treated the moving lung tumor, while SBRT targeted a static tumor elsewhere in the body.” https://lnkd.in/efTpMw6G

SCINTIX therapy uses radiotracers and positron emission tomography (PET), but in an entirely new way. Instead of using PET to diagnose the cancer, SCINTIX therapy uses the signals generated from the tumor, in response to a radiotracer injection, to direct the radiation beam. While delivering a SCINTIX treatment to a bone lesion, an 8.6mm patient shift during treatment was reported. Because SCINTIX therapy delivers a tracked dose, it autonomously followed the tumor and delivered the treatment as planned. A typical image-guided SBRT PTV margin would have missed the inferior edge of the tumor. Managing motion - especially unexpected motion - is an ongoing challenge. SCINTIX therapy, currently approved for lung and bone tumors, solves the conundrum of tumor motion.
