Exciting news 🎉 the Region 10 Education Service Center Board of Directors named Dr. Jana Melsheimer as Executive Director. Effective Monday, September 2, 2024, Dr. Melsheimer will replace Dr. Gordon Taylor, who has served as Executive Director since September 2014. Dr. Taylor announced his retirement in April after serving 36 years in public education.
Dr. Melsheimer has been a dedicated member of the Region 10 ESC team since 2013 and has served as the Deputy Executive Director for the past five years. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in designing and implementing project and performance management strategies to support regional and statewide initiatives. She has also successfully coordinated numerous projects, such as High-Quality Instructional Materials, Strong Foundations, Teacher Incentive Allotment, Safety & Security, Reading Academies, School Improvement, and Texas Instructional Leadership.
Dr. Melsheimer has also served Region 10 as the Director of Teaching and Learning and the Director of Special Populations, overseeing Section 504, Foster Care, and McKinney-Vento Homeless Education programs. Her extensive experience and commitment to educational equity have made a significant impact on the Region 10 community.

Before joining the Region 10 team, Dr. Melsheimer spent 21 years with Eagle-Mountain Saginaw ISD, where she wore many hats. From Special Education Teacher to Director of Special Programs, her diverse experience helped shape her into the well-rounded leader she is today.
Dr. Melsheimer holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Tarleton State University, a Master of Education in Education Administration from Texas Woman’s University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Melsheimer and her husband, Matt Melsheimer, have four children and 10 grandchildren.
