  • In our latest podcast episode, we dive into the complex world of #creativity Often celebrated as the lifeblood of #modern society, creativity is seen as essential across various sectors, from #business to urban planning and beyond. In a thought-provoking discussion, we explore an alternative perspective on creativity, one that champions collective flourishing over profit-driven motives. This episode promises to offer a fresh take on creativity, inviting listeners to envision a world where creativity truly serves all, not just the economic elite. A call out to everyone who works within the creative industry 📢 In my talk with Oli Mould, who wrote the book "Against Creativity", we take a deep dive in the nature of creativity and how we can use it for betterment. Oli has a rather radical view on current creativity. The idea that creativity justifies itself solely through boosting business, which in turn propels consumerism, capitalism, and economic growth, benefiting everyone, is flawed. This perspective, mirroring the inefficacy of trickle-down economics, overlooks the true essence of creativity. Creativity is our innate gift, capable of transforming the world far beyond material accumulation or corporate profit. It’s not about generating more consumer goods, nor about enhancing digital shopping experiences or marketing gimmicks. The pursuit of relentless growth, resource depletion, or efficiency at the expense of value misses the point entirely. Instead, we should embrace creativity as a force for positive global impact, fostering activism, ethical practices, systemic innovation, and mutual understanding. It's about nurturing empathy, building community, advocating for meaningful change, and practicing love and resistance against societal norms that prioritize material wealth over well-being. Olis call for a new wave of creativity is clear: to employ our talents in service of the planet and its inhabitants through innovative, life-affirming ideas. This involves leveraging all forms of expression—words, art, digital media, and collaborative ventures—to inspire actionable change. The challenge is set for the creative community to redirect its focus towards addressing genuine needs and aspirations, rather than contributing to the cycle of consumerism that dominates American culture, where consumption drives the majority of the economy. For a deeper dive into the critique of creativity's current trajectory listen to my talk with Oli Mould. Link in comments. #creative #creativebusiness #economy #future #activism
