Take time this month to create a home emergency kit, a "Go Kit" for the car, and refreshing your knowledge of exit/safety routes, emergency contacts, and other procedures, remembering that PREPAREDNESS IS KEY. ($7,500), Willis Dady Homeless Services in Cedar Rapids, Iowa ($1,200), Helen DiVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan ($700), and Breast Cancer Family Foundation in Green Bay, Wisconsin ($600) Sugar Steel Corporation: Cancer Research Foundation ($2,500), PAWS ASSISTING WOUNDED WARRIORS INC ($2,500), Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio ($2,500), and Riley Children's Foundation ($2,500) Precision Flamecutting and Steel, Inc.: Tomball High School FFA ($5,000) and Tomball Memorial High School FFA ($5,000) With 12 winners of the new Reliance Cares Launch competition, we are proud to say that our winning subsidiaries donated a total of $180,000 to an incredible variety of non-profit organizations and causes!! Let's give CCC Steel, Inc. a standing ovation! They totally rocked our world by hitting 100% engagement with our Reliance Cares launch in just one week! As a result, CCC was awarded $10,000 to donate to the causes of their choosing. After much contemplation, CCC decided to split the reward by donating $5,000 to the 4th Street Clinic and $5,000 to Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). 4th Street Clinic provides support to the homeless population in Utah, with a mission to provide integrated healthcare to those in need. Patients not only receive quality medical care such as dental care, chronic disease management, and a fully equipped pharmacy, but they also receive behavioral health services. A fun presentation ceremony was held at CCC Division, IMS Steel, to celebrate the donation, the incredible work of Launch Team member Beheshta Aslami, and to learn more about the organization. Local to CCC’s headquarters in Southern California, Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) works to improve the health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in underserved communities. CCC’s donation to CHLA supports research that has the potential to save lives. A group of CCC employees, including President Brian Tenenbaum, received a tour of the impressive hospital concluding their check presentation. What an accomplishment for Fry Steel Company ! After reaching a 100% engagement rate with our Reliance Cares launch, they were awarded $10,000 to donate to the causes of their choice! Fry Steel is no stranger to charitable giving. They actively support local communities through their charitable program, “Fry Feels.” With a slogan that encourages its employees to “harness the power of compassion, empathy, and community to create a brighter and more equitable world,” Fry sent out a mass survey to find out what organizations were near and dear to the hearts of employees and their families. Responses were categorized by cause, then narrowed down to select organizations that supported those causes. The American Cancer Society and the Make-A-Wish America Foundation each received $2,500 due to the overwhelming response to engage with organizations that support those affected by cancer.  Fry Steel also allocated $2,500 each to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati. The latter will be specifically utilized for constructing homes and renovating projects in close proximity to Fry's second location in Middletown, Ohio, which commenced operations in 2023. Kudos to the amazing team at Fry Steel Company for their unwavering dedication to giving back to their communities and making a positive change!    #RelianceCares

Happy National Safety Month! We are kicking off our Reignite Summer Safety Campaign with a goal of reducing recordables by 50% over the next three months. In June, the Reliance family will learn and experience How to Be A Cool Hero. Of course we know that staying hydrated helps keep our body cool as the daily temperatures go up. Hydration also helps us keep our mental cool. And when we can think clearly, we reduce our risk of injury. It’s one small and healthy way we can #movemetalsafely. Fill up those drink tumblers with some ice cold water, and cheers – let's all be safe and Cool Heroes this month! Cheers to National Specialty Alloys, Inc. (NSA) for hitting the jackpot with 100% team spirit in our Reliance Cares launch! You've turned this into a joy ride for your awesome crew!  After an employee vote, NSA chose to gift their entire $10,000 reward to support the Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC). NSA’s donation will help HAWC provide life-saving services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, transform trauma, and help stop abuse before it happens. “When I signed up to assist with the Reliance Cares Impact Hub launch, I had no idea what I was getting into,” said Barb Christensen, NSA’s Quality and Safety Assistant. “Now, in hindsight, I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had! Helping all of NSA familiarize themselves with this platform, then hearing what charities everyone chose, was extremely moving. I learned that if you’re asked to assist with something out of your normal routine/comfort zone, do it, even if it seems like your plate is too full.  If you say YES, you may get more out of it than you realize. There are great opportunities here at Reliance.”. To celebrate NSA’s stellar achievement, President Mark Russ invited representatives from HAWC visit NSA. They made a presentation about their organization for NSA as well as other Reliance Family of Companies in the Houston area. Then, it was BBQ bonanza time, topped off with a donation ceremony that will be etched in NSA history as a truly heartwarming and unforgettable moment. As a thank you for NSA’s generosity, ten lucky NSA employees were invited to attend the HAWC Believe 2024 Luncheon! We are beyond proud of NSA’s contribution and impact on the Houston Area Women's Center! Congratulations National Specialty Alloys, Inc.!

Today, we are thinking of the exceptional bravery and sacrifices of our nation's fallen heroes. We honor and salute the men and women of our armed services who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We are so excited to highlight Clayton Metals, Inc. who won $10,000 in our Reliance Cares launch campaign by reaching 100% employee engagement! Way to go Clayton!  To decide where to donate their $10,000, the Clayton Reliance Cares Committee selected a shortlist of causes and created a ballot box for employees to cast their votes! The winning causes were announced at a pizza lunch party. With $10,000 dispersed between Clayton’s two offices in Wood Dale, IL and Parsippany, NJ, the Wood Dale office voted to support Kids Against Hunger, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Roselle Softball/Baseball, and the National Kidney Foundation by donating $1,750 to each. The Parsippany office voted to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the John F. Carty Scholarship Fund by donating $1,500 to each organization. Cathi Mansbridge from the Clayton team said, “I really think we were able to get across just how much can be done when we all work together. Thank you, Reliance Cares, for the opportunity to contribute to some of our local charities.”  Thank you, Clayton Metals, Inc., for your commitment to the communities in which you live and work – it is making a positive difference! #RelianceCares
