🌿 Last September in Ukraine was hosted the "10th International Conference of Hydropower Engineers", where hydropower experts and stakeholders gathered to discuss the advancements in sustainable water management and renewable energy strategies. 🌿 📓 Our Ukrainian partner reviewed the conference materials and documentation to identify key stakeholders and gather insights relevant to the #RENEWAT project. Among the key takeaways were: 👉 The development of tailored water management and hydropower strategies based on the unique ecological needs of each river basin. 👉 The study of financial instruments and funding opportunities to support innovative hydropower technologies. 👉 The need to increase public awareness of the latest advancements in hydropower and its potential for sustainable development. 🌟 This valuable information strengthens the efforts with the #RENEWAT project in the Lviv region. The next step is now to discuss potential collaborations and set long-term goals for the project! 🌐 Find more about the conference here: https://lnkd.in/dit3tDrb #renewat #InterregEurope #watermills #renewableenergies #hydropower #Cooperation
About us
The RENEWAT project addresses the cultural and territorial challenges of repurposing water mills as modern tools for producing renewable energy. Partners from 6 EU countries will share knowledge and actions to lead renewable energy projects in existing water mills with the objective of upskilling local and regional actors in their territories. This aims to ensure that this form of renewable energy is clearly identified and supported in the local and regional policies, contributing to the overall renewable energy mix.

An example from France, not within the department of the Haute-Vienne but an interesting read...
Le moulin de Saint-Gaultier est un patrimoine connu depuis 1258. Il a été transformé en centrale hydroélectrique en 1902 ce qui a permis à la commune d’être l’une des premières du département à avoir l’éclairage public...

#RENEWAT Policy Instruments - CROATIA 🌿 The Municipality of Martijanec aims to revitalize a historic watermill in Hrastovljan, transforming it into a renewable energy source. This project supports the goals outlined in the Municipality’s Development Strategy and will serve as a model for similar renewable energy initiatives. 🎯 The Municipality’s Development Strategy emphasises the importance of renewable energy, but lacks a focus on repurposing existing infrastructure for modern energy solutions. Martijanec Municipality will bring together experts and representatives to discuss the potential of watermills, and will collaborate with regional authorities to integrate this initiative into local and regional energy strategies. 👉 Discover more on the infographic below and on our project website: https://lnkd.in/dsPHZbS6 #renewat #greenereurope #watermills #InterregEurope #renewableenergies #policyinstruments

The Federation des Moulins de France, was present at a regional 'Festival of Water' (FEST'EAU) in Bergerac in Dordogne (Région Nouvelle Aquitaine .France) This event on the theme of water was an opportunity for the FDMF and AMNA to meet the "general public" and to discuss the heritage of watermills and their conservation. What is RENEWAT? Why this inter-regional project within Europe? were some of the questions within our passionate dialogue with the public. The possibility of producing "clean" and carbon-free energy by watermills (small or large) was also discussed and we noted a general lack of knowledge around the issues concerning the future of the watermills.
