On Feb. 13, 2015, Thonet’s life as she knew it took a drastic turn. In just one moment, everything shifted. The happy and healthy wife, mother of 17-year-old twins, former teacher and immunization specialist was about to face the fight for her life. That fateful day nearly a decade ago was when she received the unsettling news: she had breast cancer, and it had metastasized to her lymph nodes.      Though she was faced with a daunting diagnosis, Thonet’s positive spirit and zest for life never wavered. Another celebration for the history books! On Tuesday, Renown's Structural Heart Program gathered with patients and their families at Renown Regional Medical Center to celebrate the completion of their one thousandth Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, a milestone achieved earlier this year. Renown was the first in the region to offer TAVR, which is a 60-to-90-minute minimally invasive procedure that treats aortic stenosis, a progressive heart disease. #FightTheGoodFight #OurSpecialtyIsYou #HeartCare

Attention men aged 18-44 – we're seeking research participants just like you! The Healthy Nevada Project has teamed up with Million Marker for a six-month intervention study focusing on reducing exposure to chemicals that disrupt hormone function. Participants will learn about environmental health and strategies to minimize chemical exposures.    The study includes a mail-in urine test, and a personalized report of results to further help limit exposure.
