It's no secret Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has been Leading The Way in science, technology, education, and innovation for the past 200 years, but did you know RPI is also a force for good in the Capital Region and beyond?
Over the past 25 years, RPI's annual workforce campaign has raised over $2.7 million for United Way of the Greater Capital Region and the local nonprofits we partner with. Last year's campaign raised over $62,000 alone! The continued generosity of RPI faculty and staff allows United Way to deliver important programs like Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, our network of Family Neighborhood Resource Centers, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which returns millions of dollars to Capital Region residents each tax season.
This morning, our partners on campus welcomed us for RPI's annual United Way Campaign Kick-off Breakfast, where our President and CEO, Peter Gannon, offered an update on United Way's impact in the community, and we heard from the Connect Center's Ben Williams, who we're proud to call a close partner.
We're grateful for the support of everyone on campus, especially President Martin Schmidt, Provost R.W. Doerge, campaign chairs Jacqueline Farmer, Caitlin Watts, and Dr. Kristie Bowers, who serves on UWGCR's Board of Directors, campaign coordinator Karen Toivonen and the other members of this year's steering committee. Thank you for #LeadingTheWay!
