Many teens report using cannabis as a way to relax and de-stress. However, the harm cannabis use has on the developing brain affects decision-making, memory, and stress, causing more damage in the long run. To help educate youth about the negative effects of cannabis, the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) worked with Rescue Agency to create the ad, “Bug in Your Brain’s Code.” The ad, targeted towards gamers, uses gaming lingo to depict how cannabis is detrimental to developing brains, putting life on “hard mode.” Watch the ad now: https://bit.ly/3AkSACK #VapingCessation #CannabisEducation

Many individuals smoke in an attempt to find relief from stress. Though it may provide a momentary escape, cigarettes can worsen feelings of stress and anxiety in the long run. To help encourage individuals who smoke to enroll in their quitline, the Hawai‘i Tobacco Quitline worked with Rescue Agency to create “Get Through Your Hardest Days Without Smoking.” The Hawai‘i Tobacco Quitline provides a plan to get through the rough days. Congratulations to BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES, HHSA, COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO for being recognized as the 2024 Social Impact Government Agency of the Year! This award acknowledges the amazing work they've done to increase mental health, prevent opioid use, and so much more in San Diego County. 🎉
Chief of Communication & Engagement Operations at Behavioral Health Services, County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA)
Yesterday's 26th Annual Cause San Diego Cause Conference was such a thought provoking and uplifting experience! To boot, our team at BHS was recognized as the 2024 Social Impact Government Agency of the Year Awardee 🏆 So proud of the work this small group's done with Rescue | The Behavior Change Agency on various "It's Up to Us" (Up2SD.org) efforts and this truly was such a surprise and honor for us. Thank you Muquxi La, MPH Annika Manlutac and Jasmine Guerrero for working with me to lift this 🥰 Public messaging is one part of our work and there's still so much more work to be done, but normalizing conversations about substance use and mental health, and promoting dialogue, prevention, and resources to support behavioral health, is ESSENTIAL to it. There *is* hope and help and support *are* available 🙏🏽 and we'll continue to share this through our campaigns. A huge congrats to the other nominees and awardees as well! Thank you all and thank you Cause San Diego for *everything* you are doing from your respective sectors to improve and advance our region 👏🏽 Humbled, energized, and grateful for the opportunity to work with the community, peers, and partners to reduce stigma and raise awareness in this arena 💕 #Team #ItsUptoUs #Up2SD #BehavioralHealth #BHS

For many parents, it’s difficult to talk to their kids about cannabis. Where do they start? What do they say? How can they effectively explain the risks of underage cannabis use? The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy worked with Rescue Agency to create Let’s Talk Cannabis Maine, a campaign encouraging parents to initiate the conversation. This initiative provides ways parents can approach this conversation while assuring them it’s OK if it’s difficult to talk about. See how we're helping parents and mentors have important conversations with their teens about cannabis: https://bit.ly/4ef0Dix #CannabisHealth #PublicHealth #Parents #FamilyCommunication

Holding onto unneeded prescription opioids can endanger individuals in the household who are facing addiction. The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities worked with Rescue Agency on a campaign to show community members how they can properly dispose of their prescription opioids to help prevent misuse.
