#ResearchMatters ! The storage of #globaldata is a crucial issue in modern society. Researchers at Sorbonne Université’s startup BiomemoryLabs found a solution: 🧬 DNA storage, an innovative technology that can replace current archival media. It can be stored for hundreds of thousands of years without any energy input, and thus has a potential for major societal impact. Read the full story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dr2v6gBV

📣 YERUN Secretary General, Silvia Gómez Recio, has been featured in a recent article by *Research! In the article, Silvia Gómez Recio discusses the EU’s new political cycle, expressing YERUN's pleasure at the acknowledgment of the role of #Research and #Innovation in Europe's #competitiveness. She highlights the importance of attracting and retaining #talent, and the proposed investments in #education, #training, and #skills. YERUN Secretary General questions the focus on closing growth, productivity, and innovation gaps with global partners, suggesting that the focus should be on doing “better” rather than “more”. She states, "I will be proud of a #Europe that focuses on quality, on authenticity, and that allows creativity to explore, create and reinvent itself." She further emphasises: "Trust and #autonomy for researchers is essential for fostering an #innovative ecosystem where groundbreaking discoveries and solutions to pressing global issues can thrive. "This level of funding will help position Europe better in the face fierce competition with its global peers." We applaud this statement, in line with Europe’s scientific community's call for the EU to double the next budget for Research & Innovation. Thank you for supporting the #ResearchMatters campaign, European Round Table for Industry - ERT!
Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. As we look to the next EU mandate and the next budget to be dedicated to #innovation, today ERT releases its latest position paper on next EU funding instrument for science & research, #FP10. Dr Ilham Kadri, Chair of ERT’s Committee for Competitiveness & Innovation and CEO of Syensqo says “Innovation has a transformative effect on industry and society globally and its speed is accelerating... FP10 is a vital opportunity to further boost research and to scale-up innovation potential by adding elements that are still missing – to help the EU make that leap forward in emerging technologies and the next sources of prosperity. For this reason, leaders’ commitment to restoring #competitiveness needs follow-through with a strong FP10 - EU Member States will need to treat it as a major investment in Europe’s future.” Read the full release and download the publication here: https://lnkd.in/eVmYZB_n
