Reuse isn't a product, it's a system. PR3's Digital and Reverse Logistics standards set out the data elements needed to ensure interoperability and measure the environmental impact of reuse systems. Under the Department of Energy's Re-X Before Recycling prize, we've started working with an analyst from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to determine which data points are important to capture "so as we collect data on [reuse systems], we can ensure these systems are as efficient as possible, so they have the lowest environmental impact as possible, the most positive social impacts as possible.” -Claudette Juska, PR3 Co-Founder & Technical Director Learn more about our seven standards for reusable packaging systems here: https://lnkd.in/g2aNBrjT #Reuse #SustainableBusiness #EndPlasticPollution

Watch this video and learn more about our new study "Conservation Imperatives" published in Frontiers in Science. Read the article ➡️ fro.ntiers.in/zDHM ⬅️
How can we prevent the most-likely extinctions? New research has the answer: focus on the last unprotected sites for rare species—and do it quickly. The study, led by Eric Dinerstein of RESOLVE and Karl Burkart of One Earth, pinpoints 16,825 "Conservation Imperatives" that provide habitat for our planet's rare and endangered species. The authors show their protection is achievable and affordable, and lay out strategies for action. A new study led by RESOLVE and OneEarth Foundation identify safe havens to prevent ‘the sixth great extinction’ of life on Earth. Published by Frontiers in Science, “Conservation Imperatives” provides an essential map of areas hosting the last unprotected pockets of rare and endangered species, whose protection must be prioritized in the next 5 years. “Our study shows how these unprotected pockets of rarity are highly concentrated, covering a shockingly small area—roughly 1.2% of the Earth’s terrestrial surface. Targeting these areas for immediate protection offers an achievable win for nature conservation by heading off the sixth great extinction of life on Earth.” said Eric Dinerstein of RESOLVE, lead author of the paper. Conservation Imperatives is both achievable and affordable. “Protecting the Conservation Imperatives sites in the tropics would cost approximately $34 billion per year over the next five year,” said co-author Karl Burkart of One Earth. “This represents just 0.03% of global GDP and less than 2% of environmentally harmful subsidies provided by governments annually – a small price to pay to prevent thousands of impending plant and animal extinctions.” Read the article in Frontiers in Science ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gRQfhBEH Full Press Release ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gTECscrA #ConsevationImperatives #GlobalSafetyNet #Biodiversity #Climate #SixthExtinction #EndangeredSpecies #ProtectOurPlanet
