" Like Temu, Shein has come under intense scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers over its supply chain practices, including whether it sells goods made in China with forced labor, in contravention of U.S. law. The company recently told employees it was stepping up efforts to comply with U.S. regulations, including increasing spending on external supply chain audits, The Information reported previously. “When this company goes public, which I hope it does, it brings these issues to the forefront,” said Lawrence Lenihan, chair and co-founder of Resonance, a New York–based startup that helps brands design and manufacture clothing on demand with minimal waste. Our chairman and co-founder Lawrence Lenihan quoted in Vogue Business on Shein's likely IPO: Shein’s exceptional growth is indicative of society’s powerful digital transformation. US- based Lawrence Lenihan, co-founder and co-CEO of Resonance, which uses a proprietary cloud-based platform to design, sell and make products on demand, says Shein’s business model is so radical that this moment “will ripple through every industry”. “This is a company that is super sophisticated and will make every single brand look at their structure,” says Lenihan. “Manufacturers all over the world are sitting on inventory they can’t sell or are massively discounting or throwing it away. It’s ice water to the face.”

The Beginning of the Profitable Trillion Dollar Industry (the sequel to "The End of the Billion Dollar Brand" ) https://lnkd.in/etsVxbkX The real title of this piece was "The Beginning of the Profitable Trillion Dollar Industry; it was the 10-year bookend to my piece "The End of the Billion Dollar Brand". The two pieces go together because the latter described how the industry would was going to fail while the former charts a path for its future. The fashion industry is at a critical moment. Its very existence hangs in the balance. Yes, it's dramatic, but it's also true - look at the financial results for the industry outside Zara and Shein. Fashion is a bad, outdated business model that is destroying the planet. To fix it, everything has to change. We have an answer that it took the last 6 years to build. It's called ONE. And you'll be able to try it on Wednesday.
