Today, we recognize World Down Syndrome Day and this year’s theme to “End the Stereotypes.” For people with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, stereotypes can prevent them from being treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We’re honored to employ Floridians with a wide range of disabilities, including Down Syndrome, at our Employment Centers across the state, such as Courtney and Kevin pictured here at Brevard Achievement Center. We believe a person’s disability shouldn’t limit their opportunity to experience a fulfilling career doing something they enjoy. Thank you to all of our hard-working employees who help us provide a wide range of valuable commodities and services to agencies throughout Florida! 💖 #respectofflorida #peoplewithdisabilities #peoplewithdisability #disability #disabilityawareness #DisabilityEmployment #DisabilityEmpowerment #PersonsWithDisability #worlddownsyndromeday #endthestereotypes

We love that the theme of this year’s Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is “A World of Opportunities” because this so beautifully aligns with RESPECT’s mission and focus. 💙 We wholeheartedly embrace the goal to foster a world where people with disabilities can succeed by working together to remove obstacles and creating opportunities to thrive. This is woven into the fabric of our organization. We stand alongside our partners in this mission to envision a world of opportunities every day for the Floridians with disabilities who work at our Employment Centers across the state. #respectofflorida #peoplewithdisabilities #peoplewithdisability #disability #disabilityawareness #DisabilityEmployment #DisabilityEmpowerment #PersonsWithDisability #DDAM2024 #developmentaldisabilitiesawareness #aworldofopportunities

According to the CDC, vision loss is one of the top 10 causes of disability in the U.S. and is a condition feared by many. We’re proud to recognize February as Low Vision Awareness Month by shining a light on the positive, life-changing opportunities provided by many of our partner Employment Centers across Florida that employ people with partial or total vision loss. These Employment Centers make a huge difference in helping people with vision impairment find meaningful employment and experience a fulfilling career! A great example is Junior affiliated with Lighthouse Works Inc. in Orlando who enjoys working as a call center representative.
