Are retailers prioritizing iOS for their consumer-focused functionalities? Recent data reveal that in the United States, iOS holds a significant market share of 56.93%, surpassing Android at 42.64%. The appeal of iOS in the U.S., one of the largest markets for the iPhone, can be linked to its minimal impact on an individual's annual income. Exploring the deployment of iOS Apple CarPlay functionality for BOPIS customers, there emerges a practical solution that alleviates friction to some extent. Is this investment justified for Target? The answer lies in the value it brings to enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency. Stay tuned for insights into Target's strategic approach. #Retail #iOS #ConsumerExperience #Target #MarketTrends

Interesting enhancement to a thirty-year-old technology: the Electronic Shelf Label (ESL), now the Digital Shelf Label (DSL; why did the industry change the name, again?). Clearly, the product improves many aspects of store environment and streamlines several processes. But the nuance that is relatively new that stood out to me is the design to support 'pick-to-light' for BOPIS orders, and 'put-to-light' for quickly replenishing store shelves, as we do in modern distribution and fulfillment centers. Regrettably, many retailers are still waiting in the wings, kicking tires, or kicking the can down the road.

This is a shocker - Mitchells, which I have known for decades, is just 20 minutes away from my home. Their management was weaned on retail (four generations now), with an original focus on menswear, they watch trends, opportunities, and have impeccable taste in store design. Now, we find that they sell more womenswear than menswear! Take a look at their successful management style. BTW, I seriously doubt that they will open 100 stores nationwide and dilute themselves. They are successful at what they do and in the way they do it. Read more here: [Link to the article]

I am not a retail merchant or marketer, but Bloomingdale's has held a special place for me over the years. I believe that the only selected stores included in this 'festa' are the ones that should remain open under the Bloomingdale's name. If the store is not important enough to participate, it should not be a Bloomingdale's. In my opinion, a 'smaller but distinguished chain' approach elevates the brand, despite potentially differing from financial perspectives of stockholders and other investors. Maybe I am more emotional than practical. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/df7dXRAD

This is the truly useful application of technology to enhance service and the customer experience. Best Buy's innovative approach to home delivery of "large items" is nothing short of brilliant. Back in the late 90s, I worked on delivery scheduling, delivery routing, and customer notification for 'Nobody Beats the Wiz,' facing the challenges of manual processes. Today, the technology utilized by Best Buy eliminates the stress of waiting for deliveries, offering a seamless experience for consumers. While this technology may not directly boost sales, it leaves a lasting impression of exceptional customer service, fostering loyalty and generating positive word-of-mouth referrals for Best Buy. Kudos to Best Buy for prioritizing customer satisfaction through creative solutions like this. #Technology #CustomerExperience #Innovation #BestBuy #DeliveryServices

The news came out recently that Warby Parker saw its highest growth in e-commerce sales since the first quarter of 2021. This begs a basic question. What causes an ecommerce business – whether pure-play or part of an omni-channel business – to be successful, flounder, or fail? “Motherhood and apple pie?” Sure, but does your organization do all these things as well as it could? To answer the question, let’s look at the components that make up ecommerce. · A presence – you must have or create a presence in the industry for your ecommerce offering to be found · Product offering – consumers must like the combination of the product you offer, its availability, and the price · Web site – Customers will abandon and not return to a lackluster or difficult to navigate Website. o Compatibility with major Website browsers – nothing more annoying than an ecommerce website that doesn’t work only on your preferred browser. o Loads quickly – Customers do not like waiting, on any line! Page content should not jump around the screen while loading o Presentation – Content, product specifications, standard icons placement o Easy browsing – Browsing must be easy and must be quick o Ease of navigation o Transparency – Publish prices, available inventory, ETA for out-of-stocks, returns policy, additional fees o Customer purchase history – single repository, suggest items, AI-driven o Returns Policy – clearly stated, reviewed by the customer, and agreed before the checkout process o Checkout – simple, sequential, open to as many payment options as relevant to your business o Returns processing – simple and streamlined · Supply chain – Your supply chain must be reliable. If you can’t get the product, you can’t sell it. If you know by when you expect to have the product, display the date! · Unified Commerce – We have heard repeatedly that, an omni-channel business, should present a single face to its customer base. Payment methods, account information, purchase history, pending orders and access to preferences should be the same across channels.
