    Managing Partner, Rethink Education

Excited to share that I will be joining Matt Greenfield, Andre Bennin, Bridget Duru, and Monique Malcolm-Hay Malcolm Hay as a full-time member of the Rethink Education Team.   Having come at education and workforce development from multiple angles in my career, this truly feels like coming home. I look forward to digging into themes like expanding access to higher education, supporting the justice-involved, investing in opportunities for rural communities, and advancing opportunity for women, especially single mothers.   Grateful as always to folks like Michael Walden, Rini Greenfield, and Tammy Mank Wincup Wincup who have been extraordinary mentors to me on my VC journey.   You can read more about Rethink's evolution below, and I always welcome a reconnect! https://lnkd.in/e-CxVQxH

We are excited to announce that in collaboration with The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), the Financial Times has published a list of 100+ impact investors, including Rethink Capital Partners. The list highlights our impact assets under management and our strategic focus across key sectors (Rethink Education, Rethink Food, Rethink Community) and geographies. 💡 This list is a guide for investors, showcasing where capital is making a difference and inspiring future investments. 📊 By contributing our data, we're advancing transparency and driving momentum in impact investing, supporting a sustainable future across energy, housing, food, healthcare, education, nature and more. The launch of this initiative represents a key milestone for impact investing, providing a valuable resource for investors to align their portfolios with impactful and sustainable solutions. It also includes reporting on trend analysis from the GIIN by journalist Sarah Murray and an insightful op-ed from the GIIN's co-founder and CEO Amit Bouri. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/ehZAN34A #ImpactInvestorList2024 #ImpactInvesting Disclaimer: Published exclusively by the Financial Times (“FT”) on July 31, 2024, the Global Impact Investing Network (“GIIN”) produced a list of impact investing organizations that includes specific data from named firms, some with billions of dollars in impact assets. The GIIN’s 2024 investor research is based on data from 305 organizations that use an impact investing strategy. This data was collected using a questionnaire administered from January to March 31, 2024, whose purpose was to gather information about activities in impact investing, practices for measuring and managing impact, and industry perceptions. To gather a diverse sample, a survey invitation was distributed to individuals at 18,491 identified impact investor organizations, including subsidiaries and regional divisions. To meet the eligibility criteria, respondents must have either committed at least $10m in impact assets or completed at least five impact investing transactions since their inception. The impact AUM listed includes assets invested both directly and indirectly, leading to potential double counting. This recognition is or may be considered to be an endorsement by FT and/or GIIN of Rethink Capital Partners, LLC (the “Company). The FT nor GIIIN is not a client of the Company or an investor in any fund or entity advised by the Company. FT nor GIIN is NOT compensated by the Company. The impact investor list is not a performance ranking, nor does it constitute investment recommendations.

Rated by New Private Markets, this version of the Impact 50 list is based on the amount of dedicated impact capital raised by firms between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2023. To compile this list, the New Private Markets research team is guided by GIIN’s definition of impact investing, which requires strategies to include intentionality as well as impact measurement and reporting. Additionally, they must seek financial returns, and they are not bound to any particular asset class. This recognition is or may be considered to be an endorsement by New Private Markets of Rethink Capital Partners, LLC (the “Company). The photos are in 📸! A few weeks ago, we hosted our founder gathering event, bringing together leaders from our various portfolio companies for an afternoon of peer-to-peer learning and development.    The event featured an insightful presentation on market trends, dynamic peer-led breakout sessions, and a panel on exploring alternative financing methods and down rounds. It was a great opportunity to foster collaboration and share knowledge among our #EdTech and #workforce community.    A special thank you to our presenters, panel speakers, and breakout session leaders for sharing your insights and expertise: David Blake, Nana Kyei, Tim Capen, Laurence Brent, Ben Boyd, Jessica Reid Sliwerski, Tammy Mank Wincup, and Jackson Boyar.    And of course, thank you to all our portfolio company leaders who participated and made this event a success. We look forward to continuing these conversations and driving innovation to unlock human potential together!    #RethinkEducation

Degree snobbery... Age... Underrepresentation of Black, Latino, and female founders...   All biases that exist in the venture capital industry (and pretty much most other sectors, too.)   Yet under-represented communities and founders are where Alpha is to be found! In an investment climate that is searching hard for this, there has never been a better time to recognize DIVERSITY as a real commercial driver.     This week on the pod, I speak with Matt Greenfield, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Rethink Education, who paints the picture in his quintessential way. We tackle quite a few important topics on this episode including: 👉 why empathy for customers, is the #1 startup success secret  👉 Matt's take on AI and rethinking education 👉 challenges and opportunities for EdTech founders presented by macro shifts like the K12 funding cliff and the higher ed crisis Matt is a brilliant mind and has a lot of insights to share - give this one a listen! #diveristy #edtech #fractionalleaders #podcast
