We closed out New York Climate Week with Impact Media's first ever event, #RethinkYourImpact in partnership with Rethink Food. #RethinkYourImpact was a community gathering of sustainable and value-driven brands, non-profits, restaurant partners, creator talent, and friends. Our attendees shared community and enjoyed some delicious & sustainable bites. A huge shoutout to our friends at ReThink: Lucia Roman Canivell, Kenneth Monroe, Tara FRANCOIS, Matt Jozwiak, Ken Baker, Christopher Hollinger, and ReThink’s chef Maggie L. for feeding all of our guests with delicious meals made with excess food. We also had the opportunity to interview some amazing trailblazers including Shaina Zafar, Liah Yoo, Neil Yeoh, Saad Amer, Leah Thomas, Michael Mezzatesta, Seth Antonio Laxman, Shanice London, and Kenneth Monroe. Each of these individuals are working towards more equitable futures. I’m so excited for our audience to gain insight into their thoughts! Stay tuned for the interviews 👀 Super grateful to the team at Impact Media who were involved in the event launch (Aimée Mehala, Julia P., Zach Carter) and to the content folks who were on the ground interviewing folks (Michelle Andrews and Ashley Barrientos). This happy hour was the perfect way to end off my first ever climate week, surrounded by friends and changemakers. Much love to my friends who came out to support (Sage Lenier, Jorge Alvarez, Kayley Hyde, Ziad Ahmed, Christian Vanizette, and many more). Thank you to everyone who showed up to our first ever event - more to come!

Join us for the Battle of the Queer Chefs next Friday, October 11, where Chef Yunique will go head-to-head with Chef Renae in an unforgettable culinary contest. Chef Yunique from Brooklyn will showcase the vibrant flavors of #Jamaica, while Chef Renae will showcase delicious #Southern comfort food. Prepare for a battle where tradition meets innovation, and every bite tells a story. 🍲✨ This thrilling event is not just about delicious food—it’s a celebration of queerness, community, and culinary excellence. Connect with a like-minded community, and dive into deep conversations about being queer and allies in today’s political landscape, the concept of “coming out,” and creating a chosen family. Proceeds from this event support Rethink Food’s mission to provide culturally celebrated and nutritious meals for food-insecure communities in New York. 🍽️ https://lnkd.in/dAtqD2sK #queer #queerhistorymonth #lgbtq #nycfood

I spend a lot of time glued to my computer these days, so it was especially uplifting to meet so many passionate people trying to make the world better at the Soapbox Project Circularity Dinner Event last night. We spent four hours at Rethink Food, eating four delicious plant-based food courses with programming prepared by Roopa Venkatraman and her Amrut Supper Club team. Everything was made from Rethink's upcycled ingredients, which were saved from going to waste. If you don't know about Rethink, you should. This nonprofit partners with a nationwide network of restaurants and food establishments throughout the food ecosystem to rescue their excess food and transform it into restaurant-quality community meals. 🚨More than 40% of the country's food supply goes to waste, uneaten. In between our four courses, we discussed, reflected, and took action to limit waste and improve sustainability in our own lives and communities. We also heard from the inspiring founder of the Bed-Stuy Clothes Swap, Akiera Charles, about her work improving access to sustainable fashion. If you're in the area, make sure to support! Thank you, Nivi Achanta, for starting this movement! We'll be organizing more of these amazing dinners throughout the year. If you're interested in joining the next one, let me know! 👇
