Happy Un-Halloween from Retreats Resources! 👻 Let us explain: In 2020, as we were all in quarantine during the Pandemic, we came up with an idea to stay connected as an industry— and Retreats Resources Real-Time Retreats was born. Each week we brought together meetings and events professionals from the comfort and safety of their homes to listen in on and participate on virtual presentations from our fabulous destination partners from around the world. Each week came with a new theme centered around the destination or hotel where we challenged creativity from our participants. And creativity we did get! Costumes, characters, virtual backgrounds, cocktails, stories….not a week went by that we were not blown away by the creative ways everyone came to express themselves. They were ALL IN. This weekly series went on for over a year, well into the summer of 2021. It gave us a bright spot every week in a very uncertain time for our industry, and we are proud of the community that came from that. So today, for Halloween, we present a look back on just a few of those costumes and characters we got to know during that time at home. Our roadshows always feature an auction filled with once in a lifetime trips to luxury properties, generously donated by our Destination Partners. Our charity of choice for the proceeds is always Wine To Water who does tireless work bringing clean and safe drinking water to communities in need around the world. For our Classic Southeast Roadshow we designated the proceeds of our auction to go to Wine to Water’s clean up efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton right here in our own backyard. According to Wine to Water, it takes approximately $5,000 per family to get them back on their feet again. We are proud to share that we raised $25,600 at our stops on the Classic Southeast Roadshow, thanks to the generosity of our attendees and our Destination Partners who provided the travel packages! To date in 2024 we have raised over $144,000 for Wine to Water. We are so proud to partner with them, and couldn’t do it without you, our hospitality family. Our gifting partners, Kelly McAlister, of Maui Jim/Zeal Optics, and Gil Sheehan, co-founder of Barrington Gifts, will be on hand before each event to teach us the art and mindset of personalizing our corporate gifting. With exposed brick walls, the historic site of the old Greenville Gas and Electric Light Company, is the perfect choice for a wedding, office party or offsite event for visiting corporate groups. Operated by Larkin’s Catering and Events, taking over the space in 2020, with the intention of turning it in to a pop-up restaurant space, with onsite catering kitchen capabilities. Classic Southeast Roadshow Spotlight: Hyatt Centric, Charlotte, NC On our second stop of our Classic Southeast Roadshow we will meet you at the boutique hotel, Hyatt Centric Charlotte. Set in the hip SouthPark neighborhood, close to all that Charlotte has to offer in upscale retail and businesses. The hotel opened in 2021 with 175 guest rooms, a 3700 square foot ballroom, a rooftop bar and restaurant with outdoor terrace. On the roof sits Asian restaurant, Mizu, where we will end our day with lunch and conversation.
