NENA congratulates the FCC on adopting a new framework to advance Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) across the U.S.! This landmark order establishes fair rules to fully implement NG9-1-1 services, enhancing emergency response capabilities. We're pleased that the FCC's order recognizes NENA standards, including the NENA i3 Standard, as crucial for NG9-1-1 core services. This framework not only provides a balanced approach for 9-1-1 authorities and OSPs but also improves services for all, especially inclusive services like those for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. Now, we urge Congress to commit to fully funding the $15 billion NG9-1-1 transition, essential for maintaining current operations while upgrading to NG9-1-1.
