To end off this year’s recap we wanted to showcase the incredible impact for our 13th RevolutionUC. Thank you for your support and participation in making us one of the largest in-person in Ohio and most notable hackathons in the midwest! After working tirelessly for months, it was rewarding to see our work come to life so successfully! Day Two Recap: Tired but smiling participants, once strangers, bonding over shared challenges and triumphs, became friends. Running on little sleep, it was a race against time ⏳, there wasn’t much time for anything but downing another energy drink but we still fit in lunch before judging (shoutout to our wonderful judges!), and ended with our closing ceremony celebrating some wins 🏆 #hackathon #revolutionuc

This past weekend, David Dubiel and I created the best cat trading card game you’ve never heard of at the 24-hour RevolutionUC Hackathon. Picture this: a Python-powered game that allows users to play against a bot in a war-esque card game. There are 67 cards, each representing a different cat breed, featuring unique stats and images pulled from the Cat API. Before the hackathon neither David nor I had any experience in APIs or game development, and we faced a steep learning curve. Fueled by a determination to create a finished product and a lot of late-night snacks, we completed the project in time to submit it for official judging by a panel of industry professionals. We rounded off the weekend demoing our project. Overall, the experience was incredible and a testament to what you can accomplish with the right attitude and a good partner. I’m excited to see what we will create in the future.

Day One Recap: Spirits were high with LOTS of workshops, swag, food, meeting new people, and other activities! I am excited to announce that me and my team, Daniil Gofman and Alex Zhang the Wild Spirits, have won Best Education Hack at RevolutionUC Hackathon with our app GRAiD! Our solution is a one-stop platform for student and graders similar to Canvas, but powered by AI technology to help teachers and assistants check students' work more effectively. With AI, we can create more personalized quizzes to address students' knowledge gaps and eliminate cheating. Speaking of cheating, we've integrated an eye gaze tracking system to monitor how long and how often a student looks off-screen, allowing us to calculate the probability of cheating. Thrilled to announce that Team CHAAP (CHat with Any Anonymous Page) clinched the first place overall, along with the Best Use of AWS and Best Data Science awards at this spring semester's Revolution UC hackathon! 🏆 Diving deep into integrating AI chatbots into browsers via Chrome extensions and exploring AWS's capabilities for scalable AI infrastructure was an enlightening journey. Additionally experimenting with how to add a layer of safety/security on prompts was a neat challenge. Our project not only challenged us but also allowed us to push the boundaries of what we could achieve with data science and AI. A huge shoutout to my incredible teammates Bekarys Dukenbaev, John McKain, and Arnav Komaragiri for their hard work, dedication, and innovation. Your expertise and teamwork made all the difference!
