Calcium chloride is an ionic compound of calcium and chlorine. Because its chemical properties that enable it to attract and hold water while remaining inert makes it ideal for drying acetylene at medium and high pressures. Rexarc provides calcium chloride in the shape of briquettes. These briquettes are almond-shaped, and used in the acetylene production plants to dry acetylene. As we continue to celebrate 100 years of business, we’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate another individual that has contributed to our lasting success. This month we’d like to recognize Prasanth Kumar who is in charge of our International Business Development. Prasanth began his career at Rexarc in 2016 with the focus of serving and growing our Asian and African markets. Over the last 5 years, he has expanded his role to working alongside and developing relationships with all of our markets outside the continental U.S. Prasanth credits the leadership of Rexarc and the Sandler Sales Training for developing and growing his personal sales skills. Prior to his position at Rexarc, Prasanth spent his career in production and engineering design. He has since combined this experience into being a wonderful customer partner and representative for Rexarc and our services and capabilities. When asked about some of the projects or initiatives of which he is most proud, Prasanth shares that he developed the Sales Trend Dashboard in our CRM (Customer Relationship Management System.) It started as a personal quest to track and review his personal sales trends and has since been an integral and proactive course of corrective action for everyone in our sales department to help ensure we are effectively pursuing and achieving our sales targets. When asked about his perspective regarding the Rexarc difference, Prasanth believes that Rexarc provides the best “after sales” service. He says “Our ability to innovate and design customer specific safety solutions has helped us to be the most preferred and successful acetylene plant equipment supplier in the world.” When Prasanth isn’t selling, he loves being active. He plays competitive badminton and enjoys swimming. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. A century later, Rexarc is still committed to growth and excellence. When asked what excites him most about the future of Rexarc, Prasanth says the leadership team! He believes this team has empowered the employees to be the best version of themselves in whatever they do. “If the people thrive, the company thrives.”

It's time for another "Can You Spot the Rexarc Equipment" in this museum display?

The concept of manifolding has been around in the welding, gases, and hardgoods industry for a long time. While it is a general term used in the compressed gas industry and can mean many things, this article focuses on manifolding at the customer site where gas is being distributed and used. It is centered around the idea that manifolding cylinders allows better cylinder control, improves safety and increases productivity within the facility of the end user. Better Cylinder Control is a visible result as cylinders are not scattered amongst the work area leaving each respective employee with the responsibility of changing out, maintaining and controlling the cylinders. Instead, cylinders are placed in a central location allowing easy and safe replacement of cylinders to be completed. Safety is improved with the tighter cylinder control enabled by manifold use. Cylinders are not being rolled in and out of the facility causing potential hazards. Additionally, if there are any issues with any of the cylinders it is located at a central point and can be contained with proper safety protocols. Productivity increases can be realized through manifolding. Perhaps the greatest benefit, the cost in time in moving cylinders by various employees cannot be overstated as the average time it takes an employee to change out one cylinder is 32 minutes. Furthermore, most companies cannot afford to run out of gas mid weld, and a reserve cylinder bank prevents the opportunity of lost material, further justifying cylinder manifolding at your facility. Her friendly and eager to help personality makes her a great first impression of our organization. Christie’s many responsibilities are what streamline our International Exporting and Importing Division. She oversees all of our International documentation and logistics management while ensuring our International compliance. Christie is also responsible for managing our International accounts receivables, Domestic and International invoicing and Domestic freight management. Christie credits the leadership of Rexarc for delivering on their CORE purpose of developing people to win in business and in life. She appreciates that Rexarc has taken the time to invest in developing her personal and professional growth instead of being solely focused on job related training. She truly feels these skills have not only allowed her to become a better employee but have empowered her in many other areas of her life. When asked about some of the projects or initiatives of which she is most proud during her time here, Christie shares her pride in the implementation of OneSource Denied Party Screening. This platform automatically screens our International customers (nightly) against official watch lists of individuals and entities with whom it is illegal to do business. This helps streamline the compliance process, ensures we avoid sanctions and penalties and saves time by removing the manual labor used previously. Finally, ever the professional, Christie recognized an opportunity to improve our shipping and crating processes to minimize freight damage and increase customer satisfaction. When asked about her perspective regarding the Rexarc difference, Christie shares that she believes our longstanding success is based on the fact that we work with each customer on a customized and personal level. When Christie isn’t in the office, she loves being outdoors, cooking and spending time with her loved ones. A century later, Rexarc is still committed to growth and excellence.
