More and more organizations within the consumer goods industry are adopting generative AI into their business functions for product development, creative optimization, and procurement efficiencies, for example. At Reynolds, we’re taking an optimistic but cautious approach to integrating generative AI into our practices. Aaron Gwinner, Chief Information Officer, shared how we are strategically investing and deploying generative AI to set the stage for expansion in 2025 in the CGT - Consumer Goods Technology article below. Last week, our Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG) welcomed former special forces, Mike Cloy, and infantry marine, Brandon Wilson, to our downtown Winston-Salem, NC headquarters for an event titled “Understanding Veterans: A Dialogue for Better Communication.” During this interactive seminar, the speakers from Veterans Services of the Carolinas discussed with ERG members and supporters how companies can better communicate and understand veterans and veteran culture. The event covered basic military terminology, concepts, training processes and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life for veterans and their families. Thank you for joining us, Mike and Brandon! #ReynoldsAmerican #Veterans

This Saturday, many of our dedicated teammates and members of our BUnited Employee Resource Group proudly joined Pride Winston-Salem for its downtown parade and festival celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community. We are truly inspired by this group’s enthusiasm and commitment to fostering inclusivity. Chrissy Sherrill, Lead Manager in our Scientific Research and Development function and BUnited ally who attended the event, shared why she appreciates the company’s support. She says, “Reynolds' support of Pride Winston-Salem is important to me as it demonstrates tangible actions by the company to support the LGBTQ+ community. We can say we support something or someone as much as we want to, but it is when we proudly show up to actively demonstrate that support that true impacts are made.” At Reynolds, diversity, equity, and inclusion are important parts of our sustainability strategy, and we are committed to building a culture where everyone has a voice. Recently, a group of enthusiastic employee volunteers planted a pollinator garden at the Reynolds Operations Center in Tobaccoville, NC that included 53 different species and 512 total native seedlings 🌱. Locally, the Monarch Butterfly 🦋 population has declined by 85% in the last 20 years due to habitat reduction and damage. This registered Monarch Waystation will serve as a nursery for Monarchs and provide a stopover habitat during the migratory season. It is also home to a variety of other critters 🐛🐦🦗. This #PollinatorWeek, we’re excited to share that we’ve already observed some pollinators taking advantage of the space! Picture below is a Honeybee 🐝 on an Appalachian Mountain Mint plant and a Snowberry Clearwing or Hummingbird Moth on Bee Balm 🌿. #ReynoldsAmerican #BAT

John OBrien, Vice President and Assistant General Counsel – Regulatory, shared insights at the Next Generation Nicotine Delivery USA 2024 conference earlier this week. During his talk titled, "The Tobacco Control Act 15 Years Later: Is the Center for Tobacco Products Achieving the Act’s Goals?,” he highlighted the importance of assessing the FDA’s Center of Tobacco Product’s (CTP) successes and put forth potential regulatory reforms that would help the agency achieve the Tobacco Control Act's purpose to "reduce disease risk and the societal costs associated with tobacco-related diseases" to ensure effective oversight of the industry's "efforts to develop, introduce, and promote less harmful tobacco products," and to "strengthen legislation against illicit trade.”   He also emphasized the urgent need for CTP to run efficiently, fairly, and transparently to promote a well-regulated marketplace that promotes tobacco harm reduction, fosters innovation and choice for adult nicotine consumers, and combats the massive illicit market of vapor products that continues to flourish.    Reynolds is committed to offering adult smokers who are uninterested in quitting tobacco products altogether potentially reduced-risk products. The lack of new product authorizations, however, is hampering harm reduction and creating a thriving illicit market. We believe a more effective and transparent regulatory process is needed to promote public health and that collaboration between industry and the FDA is needed to ensure a well-regulated functioning marketplace that is grounded in science, fosters innovation, and provides accurate information to the public and healthcare providers about the associated health risks of nicotine.      Learn more about tobacco harm reduction at https://lnkd.in/e4nhkCbz #ReynoldsAmerican #BAT #Nicotine24

Juneteenth is a day to recognize and celebrate the strength and resilience of African Americans and serves as a reminder of the continuous journey toward equality and justice. Earlier today, the Black Employee Network Yielding Outreach & Unity (B.E.Y.O.U.) Employee Resource Group hosted a Juneteenth flag raising at our sites across Tennessee and North Carolina including our Winston-Salem, NC headquarters building. The ERG was joined by many supportive allies, colleagues, and senior leaders from across the organization who shared remarks on the history of this day and the importance in advocating for further progress. Destiny Dalton, Manager, Human Resources Business Partner for the Marketing function and co-lead of B.E.Y.O.U., shared what the Juneteenth flag means to her. She says, “To me, the Juneteenth flag symbolizes freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of African Americans. Flying this flag fosters inclusivity by acknowledging the struggles and triumphs of African Americans, promoting awareness, and encouraging conversations about our collective history.”
